WOYWW 241

Greetings fellow WOYWWers, followers and everyone,

What would be more appropriate for today's offering isn't What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday but what's not for me today. It's more like What's On Your Coffee Table Wednesday.
Why? Because I've been driven out of my craftroom by the paint fumes exuding from the newly painted window frame. Not that I'm complaining, mind. It had to be done ready for the new window blind that is being fitted on Friday. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the greater good :)

So what you see is what I am crocheting at the moment. And it is all down to Lunch Lady Jan's post for Week 239 in which she mentioned a knitting/crocheting for charity post found at the UK Handknitting  Association. And I was particularly taken with the hexagons Jan was crocheting for this appeal:
Click on the image to be taken to the post where you can find full details of what is required.

Wanting to join in I've rummaged through my bags of yarn and searched through my crochet pattern books and settled down at the coffee table to make as many hexagons as I can while the paint is drying. My one remaining problem is ensuring that the hexagons are the required size ... for some reason I'm struggling but I will persevere :)

Oh, and an update on the curtain saga ... all have been altered and my job is done - yes!

Will be back soon as I can to leave as many comments as I can manage before the paint fumes get to me! Want to join in with WOYWW and reveal your desk this week then pop over to Julia's blog, the Stamping Ground, and leave a link ... don't be shy, we're a really friendly bunch of crafters and we don't bite :)

In the meantime, take care, keep warm and stay safe.

Happy crafting,

Oh, Elizabeth, thank you sooooo much for crocheting those gorgeous hexies! That's so kind of you, I will email you the addy to send them to, or you can send them to me and I will send them on. I have really enjoyed making mine, they're quick to do and I have used up all my odds and ends of yarn...so it's double the satisfaction! Mine have come out ever so slightly larger than the 15cm, but I'm sure that they can be made to fit somehow.
Your basket of wool is very enticing...I have a wicker basket too, sitting at the end of the settee so I can pick up the hook every time I sit down. It's amazing how quick the pile is building up!
Thank you again, I will email shortly,
Hugs, LLJ 45 xx

I bet your craft room will look lovely after it's revamp and you will be able to make it totally yours.
I wish I could crochet. It takes me all my time to knit but I have been enjoying having another go lately. Lots of scarves taking shape!!

Lovely basket of yarn. Thank you for the link. I had seen the one for warm homes which I intend making for our MP. He can put it on the wall with the Save the Children jigsaw piece I gave him last year!
Thank you for kind blog comment, yes, our garden visitors can indeed teach us a lot.
Enjoy your week.

Oh don't they look attractive in your basket..my collection is sad by comparison. And I had to go buy the white for the outsides! I too am enjoying making the hexies, especially as they use up scraps..jan will no doubt have told you that she found a pattern that for me at least is working at dead on 15cm, on a size 5 hook. If you want to know more, email me juliadunnit@me.com and I'll send you the link. I'm not on my ipad at the moment so can't be that helpful!

Your hexagons are looking very pretty! I love knitting but have not gotten around to learn how to crochet! Maybe this year, but not right now, we are having a heatwave :(
Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely comment.

Good luck with the hexagons. I am just fininshing off 9 more that Annie found in her cupboard when she was sorting ready for the move. As I have more time than her, I offered to finish them and send to Jan, so a combined effort really. x Jo

I am off tomorrow to get some wool to have a go at one of those blankets. I thought I might crochet and create some for the children at the Birmingham Children's Hospital, where my granddaughter has treatment every so often. I would prefer to do it for a more local hospital than for one in London. I shall need to ration myself to a limited amount of crochet to avoid making my RSI worse (partly brought on my too much crochet all in one go - silly fool that I am). I am making some inroads into my craft room so I might get some work (playing) done this week. Can't wait and then I might be able to show something of my desk at last. Thank you for your visits and I'll see you again on Wednesday. xx Maggie
