Clearing my desk of snippets, scraps and leftovers ... Day 1

Hi Everyone,

I'm not here, I'm off on my jollies :) However, I didn't want you to miss me, as if you would, so my plan is to schedule a few posts, the theme of which is the leftovers, scraps and snippets of paper and card that consistently build up on the side of my desk as a result of scrapping sessions. For example, these!
Usually, my strategy for dealing with them is to just sort them away into various boxes to be used eventually, when I have a bit of time, generally creating a snippet card for submission to Di's challenge over at Pixie's Crafty Snippets Playground. And I have absolutely no doubt that has helped immensely in preventing every nook and cranny of the craft space being taken over with breeding piles! Incidentally, I only became a card maker when, as a scrapper with a mounting accumulation of leftovers, that were too nice to throw away, I looked around for an alternative use.

Recently, in a moment of clarity, it occurred to me that I should perhaps be taking a more disciplined approach. Don't ask me why I give myself so many hoops to jump through ... you'd think retirement would be the perfect time to slow down and relax. Not for me! Instead, I challenged myself to keep the most recent pile on the desk and work on them between projects. Aha! I think you could be ahead of me here! Yes, you're right, as I finish each project more scraps are added to the pile ... so I feel it has become a never ending project.

Nevertheless, I've set myself the challenge so over the next week I'll show you what has come of it and at the end I'll show you what remains of the pile. I'll let you be the judge of whether I've made an impact or not to the size of the pile :)

So here's the first card I made from that pile.

From the pile: black card (Papermill Direct), a strip of aqua paper (Docrafts), and some of the pink dotty paper (American Crafts Dear Lizzy).
Additional supplies: stamps - Craft Stamper butterfly and Hero Arts Classic Messages; ink - ColorBox Frost White and Memento tuxedo Black; punches - scallop edge and flower shape; pink and blue gems; butterfly patterned ribbon (Docrafts).

Being away from the PC means I won't be linking this to Pixie's Crafty Snippet Challenge, but I'll still be thinking of you all frolicking in the playground and tormenting the ducks on the pond.

Look out for the next card tomorrow ... assuming that my attempts to schedule actually work :)

In the meantime, take care and happy crafting,

What a beautiful card Elizabeth. Methinks I really should take a leaf out of your book but I do get to use those snippets sometimes. I hope you are enjoying your jollies :o)
