WOYWW 216

Hi WOYWWers, Followers and All,

It's so hot and I'm melting - the storm was refreshing while it lasted but I'm all hot and bothered again and much as I would like to do more crafting I'm struggling to concentrate for long ... I think my brain could be frazzled too!
I have managed to cut out a cushion cover front ... based on an idea I found in a book I borrowed from the library.
This book, in fact. It's full of lovely projects, a couple of which I'm hoping to make ... before it has be returned.

So on my desk today is sewing stuff. There's a notebook with some rough calculations for the patches and strips needed for the cushion. The little house tin is about 30 years old ... I can't remember what it originally contained but I've always used it for storing sewing machine bobbins. And next to it is a bias binding maker that I inherited from my late mother ... recently discovered tucked away in her sewing box. I haven't tried it out yet, will have to work out how. I can see my stamp index box up in the left hand corner ... indexing has stalled from lack of enthusiasm ... it's too darned hot. I've said that before, haven't I?

As usual, I'm writing this gone midnight. I should get myself off to bed so that I can wake rested and refreshed and ready to join in the blog hop of the week ... that is over at Julia's place, the Stamping Ground  - haven't joined in with What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday before, want to join in, just click the link.

Right, I'm keeping it brief so I'm off. See you. Happy WOYWW to you all.

Hi Elizabeth,
What pretty fabric you have chosen for your pillow cover. It has been extremely hot and humid here, thank goodness for air conditioning.....until the electric bill arrives....LOL
Have a great week

Very pretty colours...it is going to look so lovely once finished. You have been sewing up a storm and finished so many projects already!
That machine is well suited to your creativity!
Not doing WOYWW this week but just popping by to say Hello!

It's a wonder any of us can get creative in this heat isn't it but of course it wont last so we had better make the best of it while we've got it :-)

Hello Elizabeth I really like those colours. I have lost my enthusiasm for card making at present. hopefully it's the heat and the fact that where I craft needs a very good tidy up :-( and it is easier to shut the door and ignore it all. Happy WOYWW Anne x #9

Lovely cushion project - you are enjoying your sewing aren't you. Do try the bias binding maker - it's easy and makesreally cheap soft bias strip from old but good sheeting/ pillow cases etc.

Pretty pretty fabric. Yes it's hot, I'm sitting here gently glowing, but I wouldn't change it. I can't bear the thought of winter again! I wonder if you'll find the bias maker as helpful as Jan did hers...mind, she uses yards of it with the old bunting!

Gorgeous fabric, Elizabeth. Enjoy finishing the cushion. Yes, it IS hot - hasn't cooled down here as we have not had any rain yet - but then, we were all complaining it was COLD in the winter.....
Have a great, if hot, week.

Oooh, well done with the new projects. Last couple of weeks I have got through 100 desks, simply because its too hot to spend much time at mine, today is another of those days..I'm itching to get on with my paints, but its just too uncomfortable in there.

Happy WOYWW Elizabeth!

I can't cope with the heat either, not getting anything done fast!

That is very pretty material, I bought a sewing mag with a pattern for a dress, somewhere I have some nice material lurking if it is enough!

You will notice that when you see my messy desk!

It's easy to see that this pillow cover will be a beauty when it is finished! My grandmother was a quilter, but I was too young when she died to have picked up any of her skills. Fortunately, I do have a few of her pieces.

Loved looking through the things on your desk! Happy WOYWW!

The library is the BEST! If the book is terrible, no big waste, just take it back, right?

Beautiful colors, Elizabeth.

Happy WOYWW to you!

I love the fact that crafty people have their fingers in many pies...I too like sewing as well as card making and have recently been using fabric instead of ink after many years of the machine left unloved.
Have fun Elizabeth, Cheers RobynO #113

Happy Hump Day… I love your color scheme. Can't wait to see it all finished. I really need to get to know my sewing machine. My mom is amazing with a sewing machine, unfortunately that is not an inherited gene. SIGH…. Have a great weekend. (((HUGS)))

Lovely colours you have chosen for the pillow. The little house tin is so sweet can't believe it is that old. But then again they did make things to last once upon a time. Hope the heat moves on!

Lovely cushion cover on the go, the book looks really nice too. You could always take some photos of the other projects and instructions for them, that way you don't have to rush before getting the book back to the library.

I popped in before but it stayed 'white' for so long I nipped of to make some tea! (and then for got!) Hoping I don't repeat myself, but I know I will! Love those cushions! I get the 'need' to sew something, but it soon goes as I have no machine, but then when I visit there's always some thing lovely to look at!!

Thank you for your visit this week. I am so pleased with the work of my roofers that I have asked for quotes for several other smaller jobs that need finishing off, especially before I get the decorator in. They are a local, well-respected family firm of builders, and between them cover most skills, including plastering. I love the coloured you have chosen for your cushion, cool and fresh, and you may have to renew that book. Good luck with those projects. xx Maggie #39
