What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - WOYWW Wk 348

Hi to you all ...

... from a very sunny Ayrshire!

A perfect day to join in and show what's on my desk for Julia over at the Stamping Ground.
I was going to draw down the blind but then thought, no, you might prefer to see that rare ray of sunshine hitting my desk. Out today is a bunch of photos of The Boss together with some cat themed papers, ribbons, washi tape and coordinating buttons. I take tons of photos of herself but rarely get around to creating any layouts with them so I've decided the time has come! Just to the side, out of shot but not forgotten, is the Christmas album ... it's there as a thorn in my side to make sure I complete it this year!!!
On the other desk I'm making some advance on the tartan applique you might recall I started a couple of weeks ago. This is my first serious attempt at free motion sewing and it's a lot more difficult than the experts make it look, sigh. However, just a couple of small flowers and butterflies to sew on and I'll call this one done. The EM will be pleased. He bought a pair of trousers yesterday that are now waiting on the sidelines to have the leg length altered :(

The sunshine is drawing me out of my cave so I'll be popping out soon ... I desperately need some ink cartridges ... but I will be back to check out as many desks as I can before bedtime.

In the meantime, enjoy the rest of WOYWW.

The papers on your desk look exciting Elizabeth. Good luck with your layout. I'm really impressed with the applique you're doing. They always make everything look easier don't they. Barbxx

Hi Elizabeth, I'm sure The Boss thinks a whole album of herself is way overdue, lol! Love the applique- so much patience you have. Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #20 xx

I think your machine embroidery is coming on a treat and everything gets easier with practice. I hope Bonnie appreciates the time spent. I was just chatting this morning with a relative sorting through photos and he said most of them seem to have the animals on he's had over the years - I'm the same. Happy WOYWW x Jackie 22

I've had a really busy day with sewing and avoiding the wet paint and am just catching up with some of my blogging friends.
Trust me when I say free machine embroidery really does get easier with practise. You almost have to relearn using a sewing machine to do it I know but once you have mastered the skills needed it's a lot of fun.

Pretty pretty papers, and I am floored by your applique. I did that for one of my children's baby quilts, and have never ever again!!!

Yours is gorgeous!

Good grief, is that really sunshine streaming across your desk....that makes it a red letter day! You've certainly had more than your fair share of rough weather recently. I love your tartan appliqué, it looks fabulous! I agree, free machining is harder than it looks, it doesn't come naturally to me, that's for sure!

The Scottish blood in me stirs looking at your pretty tartan applique, that bug has not bitten me yet, Elizabeth. My winter projects are more on the sewing, knitting, and crochet fronts, as well as starting seeds for next summer.
