All's Right With the World Tag

Hello Everyone

And a happy Sunday to you all too.  We've had a pretty easy day of it today with neither of us feeling like doing much at all ... no crafting to speak of and it's much too cold outside to do anything in the garden.

As there hasn't been a lot going on in the craft room I thought I'd share this tag. The UKPC challenge last month was to create something using book pages - this tag is what I came up with. A lot of snippets and stuff that had been tucked away and long forgotten so I'll be submitting it to Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 120.

Although it's not too clear in the photos the green cardstock base of the tag is covered with part of a book page, from an old poetry book, published 1950, entitled Poet's Quair, which was first stamped with a variety of flourishes and flowers (all items used listed below), next a layer of gesso was added before it was stamped again, this time with trailing leaves using adhesive and adding gilding flakes, and of course the sentiment.

The poem, Pippa's Song, was also taken from a book page and framed, using a scalloped square one from Bazzill Chips Shapes embossed with glittery lemon and lime WOW powders, to give it prominence on the tag. The frame was adhered to a snippet of patterned paper before being glued on to the tag.

The snowdrops were stamped on to an oval die-cut and painted with a pale green mica powder mixed with water. The butterflies were stamped on to scraps of the same patterned paper used to back the frame, cut out and decorated with a mix of pearls and gems.

The back is simply decorated with some gilding flakes and butterflies.

My daughter popped round this afternoon ... she has asked me to shorten the gorgeous evening dress she has bought to wear to a ball in Ireland next month. She is such a titchy wee thing that she can never find clothes of the right length. I'll be tackling it with bated breath because it is a lightweight knit fabric, with a lot of stretch in it, and there's two layers to alter too ... now where did I put that packet of ballpoint needles!

But first things first, must go and watch Endeavour on TV now.

It's A Good Day

Afternoon Folks

It's Friday, almost the weekend. Let's hope it's a good one.

I've been out in the garden doing a few jobs that needed to be attended to ... potting up the lavender plants, scrubbing out the bird bath, a bit of weeding and a bit of planting. It's all go in the garden at this time of the year. So it's one I made earlier that I have for you this afternoon.

This card was made to make use of some scrap card I'd earlier mopped up some Rangers Peacock Feathers ink from the craft mat leftover from another project. All I did was stamp over it with a leaf stamp and black ink then trimmed it up to create a band to place over the front of the card. Before adhering this band to the front the glittery black ribbon was wrapped round and secured to the back. A faux bow was glue gelled to the front later. The topper was fussy cut from a 12"x12" sheet of American Crafts Dear Lizzy patterned paper.

The inside and back were decorated with the off-cuts from the inky card.

• Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad
• stamp from We R Memory Keepers Botanicals Cotton Tail set
• a length of Anita's black glitter satin ribbon from stash
• the topper decorated with Anita's gems in 2 sizes
• Teresa Collins Summer Stories enamel dots

I'm still using up stash and snippets and yet I have to admit that there's still loads of pretty patterned paper in the craft room. However, I'm enjoying this personal challenge and intend to keep going even if it does mean that I'm sitting on my hands when I see all the gorgeous new paper ranges being launched on TV this weekend :)

Of course, having used that inky card made from some white card leftover from another project, I'm submitting this to Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 119. I'm hoping the sun is out in the playground because it's overcast and cool here.

Once that's done  I plan to fit in an hour or so of crafting before it's time to join the EM to watch Pointless ... we are both addicted :)

WOYWW - Wk 253

Good Morning Fellow WOYWWers, Followers and Friends,

I can't believe I've been absent from Julia's WOYWW  for so long, four weeks in fact!!! For those that don't know, that's What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday, the biggest and most enjoyable weekly blog hop there is.  With Casa Worthington having been not much more than a sick bay for most of the past month there's not been much to show on the workdesk but this week has seen some action so here is what it looked like this morning.

Admittedly the layout of the photo of my granddaughter is a UFO from all those weeks ago but I have high hopes of working on it and maybe even getting it completed some time soon. Beside it is my attempt to pick out scraps of fabric to compliment the colours in that gorgeous Moda fabric on the left. I'm not sure what I'm going to make with them ... the old grey matter is working on it but it could be some time in the planning phase. Way at the back, to the right, is the latest crafty acquisition, a cordless glue gun ... I can see that being so much more handier than the plug in one which, in any case, has now found it's way into the man cave. To the front of this you can see some patchwork coasters my clever daughter made for me for Mother's day. And that is Cedric Cat in the middle, an easy cut out and sew gift that came with Homemaker Magazine.

He still needs more stuffing before his tail can be sewn up ... I think one of my grands will love him.

Next to him is my latest acquisition ... a miniature Singer treadle sewing machine for the planned sewing corner in the doll's house. Talking of the sewing corner, the real thing has had a couple of new shelves added for storing all things sewing related.

Please ignore the area without wallpaper ... it was hanging off when we moved in and wasn't worth conserving. We had hoped to decorate this room before we actually moved in but things didn't work out as planned ... and now, what with his sciatica and all, it could be some time before the painter and decorator, aka the EM, gets to this room!!! In the meantime, it's a cosy little sewing station complete with an re-purposed herb rack now used for storing cotton reels and jars of buttons.

Not in the photo but to the left is this pretty storage for rolls of ribbon and washi tape.

Oh dear, not as brief as Julia would like but after four weeks absence there's a lot to catch up on so I hope I'll be forgiven for this lengthy post. I promise to keep it shorter next week :)

As usual, my plan is to visit as many of you as I can. Perhaps, not all today ... well, I am running a tad late ... but over the next few days because I'm really looking forward to catching up with what you have all been up to in my absence.
