Jury Service - The Last Day

Hi Everyone,

Well yes, after all that turning up bright and breezy and hanging around for hours and hours, my number wasn't drawn after all. In the end some forty plus of us were dismissed leaving fifteen 'good people and true' to do their duty.

Despite the seeming waste of time I admit to finding it an interesting experience and one I'm glad to have participated in, if only up to a certain point. It was a pleasure to see the inside of the beautiful 19th C building with it's ornate cornices, round arched niches and timber paneled doors. The staff did their best to keep us informed and even tried to lighten the boredom with the occasional joke. Saying all that, I hope that it will be quite some time before I'm called for jury service, if ever again ... there's no upper age limit in Scotland so I'm not holding my breath!!!

Now that's over and done with normal crafting will be resumed ... I just have to find my mojo. It'll be around here somewhere, no doubt buried under the stuff that has piled up on my desk.

Hope you are having a great weekend.

You were lucky not to get called. When I did it back in about 1989 I had a week of being on standby and sent home then got selected. I can't say I enjoyed it - it was football hooliganism with GBH. What I really didn't like was the fact that the defendants friends were in the same cafeteria in the courthouse as the jury and nothing to stop them following us at the end of the day. It was also absolutely freezing. I just hope I never get called again as they've just raised the upper age limit here, so I'm still eligible.

So glad you are feeling better now! It's good you didn't get called for the jury. Hopefully you can get back to crafting now, yay! xxx
