Holly Jolly Christmas Card

Afternoon All,

Was out and about yesterday, so this card wasn't completed until late on ... after watching the Strictly Come Dancing marathon and, as Saturday night is Movie Night at the Worthington's, our film choice, The Last Three Days with the gorgeous Russell Crowe. So it was kind of late by the time I got back into the craft space to finish this card off.

No snippets, well just a tiny strip you can just about see under the holly trim, used in the making of this card ... no, I plucked up the courage and cut into this gorgeous sheet of Bo Bunny design paper ... mind you I did break into a cold sweat and my hands shook when it came to the part where I had to bring the guillotine down on it :(

Gorgeous paper - I carefully cut it to keep the two greetings more or less intact. The gold pearlescent strip is embossed with a lovely holly swirl and the holly trim is from another one of my new Spellbinders dies. After cutting and embossing some smooth white cardstock, I used the die as a stencil (as seen demonstrated on TV) and inked through it - Adirondack Noel, yes, the ink pad I didn't like at one time because of the muddy colours :)  After removing the die the white card looked wrong, a bit stark, against the DP so I sponged the edges with Pumice Stone to tone it down . The Poinsettia was also cut out in white cardstock and sponged with Fired Brick (flower) and Noel (leaves). A couple of rainbow drops, one orange for  the Poinsettia centre ... yes, it does look red in the photograph but it really is orange ... and red for the corner decoration ... a tiny holly leaf spray cut from the edge of the trim.

The inside and back are decorated with toppers cut out/punched out of the DP ... and there's another little holly spray, saved from the bin, in the corner.

Materials used:
Cardstock: Base - cream cardstock; Dies cut with white cardstock; Embossed border - gold pearlescent card
DPs: BoBunny, Noel Rejoice; Daisy Bucket - out of the scraps so name forgotten
Ink pads: Adirondack, Noel; Tim Holtz, Pumice Stone and Fired Brick
Dies/Embossing Folder: Spellbinders, Layered Poinsettia and Holly Accents; Cuttlebug All-in-One Embossing Folder, Twinkle
Embellishments; Orange and red rainbow drops

Much as it hurt to cut into my treasured design paper I think the result was worth it ... my DH didn't just okay it (his usual reception of my work) but was exceptionally complimentary about this one so the sacrifice seems to have been worth it.

Now, I'm off to do something crafty with a rabbit ...

Happy Sunday to you all,

Well done for overcoming your fears. The result is well worth the torture. The next problem is whether you can bear to send it off to someone. I await the answer to that one. Thank you for your visit today and your kind comments.

PS Just watched the Strictly results show, Definitely do not agree. In my opinion, it should have been Nancy to go. What do you think?
