WOYWW - Week 136 ... grungepaper and spools

Afternoon WOYWWers and All,

Yes, afternoon! I've had a bad night and been a real slow starter this morning. And my PC hasn't helped either, it's been on a go-slow all morning too - I suspect some programme, Windows/Microsoft, has been checking to see if I need any updates.  And now my security programme is doing a check too ... a necessary precaution but, oh, the frustration of it all. Okay, rant over for today, on to the business of the day - the state of my wordesk.

Ready for action with Timmy's grungepaper and Wendy's spools. I saw our Hels demonstrate these on TV a few weeks ago and just had to have them, but what to do now??? I don't actually own any of Wendy's stamps, big drawback ... but as I have taken the vow not to buy any more stash until I used what I already have ... it's going to be down to some improvisation. So I've taken a look at my stash and pulled out a selection of stuff I do have, stamps, dies and inks, that I think my just be acceptable substitutes. Wish me luck folks :))

The ice-cream box at the back - well, it shouldn't be there. It contains images I've stamped out already - just trying the stamps out, that sort of thing - and I was looking through it last night just to remind myself of what is there - and I should have returned it to it's place ... tut, tut, how sloppy of me :)

If you're reading this and wondering what WOYWW is all about, then click the icon on my sidebar and you will be transported to Julia's place, the Stamping Ground, where you will find dozens of links to other bloggers willing to show the state of their desks this morning ... such fun :))

That's it for today - short and sweet! I'm off now to start hopping through your desks - can't wait to see what you've all been up to this week :) I hope you are all well and easing yourself into the new year with plenty of crafting.

Happy Crafting,

Afternoon, Elizabeth. I know what you mean about computers being slow. Mine has the habit of shutting itself down when it's done updates, really annnoying if you've just typed loads!!
Your desk is beautiful and tidy. I like the look of those spools and can't wait to see what you do with them.
Happy WOYWW

I was just going to ask what on earth spools do, then I zoomed in and read the front of the packet. AAh, so that's what they are... looking forward to seeing what you do with those :)
Our modem and router are driving me nuts at the moment, so I sympathise with your PC troubles..*sigh*

Well, I think your desk is very tidy. So relaxing, to have some space to work on. I also am trying not to buy anything (much) until some stash is actually used up. Happy WOYWW.

Hi Elizabeth! Do you have to totally use up all your stash before buying any more or is it that you must go through all your unused stuff before being allowed to buy any more? I like the idea of the second option :) Belated Happy WOYWW - my main laptop wouldn't connect to the wi-fi yesterday and IT support was out at archery. It'd be more than my life's worth to go and fiddle with the router settings :)) Di xx

Hi Elizabeth

I'm definitely having problems myself today, half the blogs I visit just freeze on me! Luckily, yours isn't one of them.

No news from Ciara I'm afraid..... :(

Looks like you are working on some fun projects. Who knows? Maybe the ice cream tub has the perfect image in it for what you are working on now.

Well done for resisting those stamps, Elizabeth. This challenge is really making me think hard about what I am using, and how I can use everything in a different way. xx Maggie #105

Not a clue what those spools are so I am looking forward to seeing what you are doing.
Hope you have got over your bad night and that it was not because you are ill or anything. Take care.

You will love your Art Parts - any polka dots or background stamps and flowers work just as well with Wendy things - or just lots of ink and paint! ...check out Kim Costello's yummy piece! http://paperbabe.blogspot.com/2011/05/wendy-vecchi-stylee.html

Thanks for the peek in to your crafty space...Sarah at 6

Oh Elizabeth what a coincidence, guess what the postie bought me this morning? (and I shouldn't heve been spending either, goodness knows there is enough stash here to keep me going in to the next decade. Or possibly century. But I WANTED them LOL!! I can't wait to see what you do so I am going to become a follower and hope I don't miss it. Thanks for popping by to see me, Cindy # 52

I could hardly wait to visit because you are always so good about visiting me. Then I had to wait and be late getting here. Sorry you had a bad night before WOYWW. I have been there before, but I don't think I've been that far down on the list.

Like you, I often have to find substitutes for what I'm working on. Of course, if you have a preconceived idea of what you want, that makes choices and outcomes a bit harder. Just keep up the non-buying attitude and things will be great.

Happy belated WOYWW (#3).

I too had computer issues on Wednesday so maybe it was a national thing, although mine also slows right down massively when it does a security scan!! Lovely crafty items on your desk, I will keep a look out to see what you do with them??

A bit late this week, but I hope you had a great WOYWW and also have a lovely weekend, luv Karen xx
