What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - Week 594

 Hello Everyone

Welcome back to my blog. It's been a while. Again. I try to write at least the one post a week, on Wednesday, joining in with all the wonderful deskers for What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday, hosted by our fabulous Julia over on the Stamping Ground. I try, but more recently it's been a struggle. For the moment. Things will improve - eventually. In the meantime, here's what's on my desk today.

I'm debating on how best to use this lovely piece of paper. That flower is just too lovely to cover up. The other bits and pieces may, more likely may not, be used on the next scrapbook page I put together. And that brings me to a problem that has been exercising the old grey matter this week. It's embellishments. They are taking over this craft room. In short, I have too many.
On this tray is just a small sampling. They're sort of sorted into colours - it's a bit hit and miss but it does make selecting those most suitable for a layout easier. It's clear that I have to admit to having far too many. I should stop buying, no matter how tempting.
And perhaps that should apply to papers too. A few years ago I sorted my papers into colours too but that has proved to be less than satisfactory; especially when making up my homemade kits. The problem is that most are double sided and the main colour on each side can be quite different. More sorting's been done. A much more simplified system this time. All I've done this time is split the sheets into those patterns I consider suitable for using as the layout base and the rest. And it's down to Annie's Crafty Bear to keep the stack in order!

I don't have anything more to add really, no funny, no book - though I've just started listening to Richard Osman's 'Thursday Murder Club' - instead, given that it's October and Halloween is fast approaching, here's my 'and finally' ...

This is Mylo, the most adorable little pumpkin and the latest puppy to join our extended family. He's been adopted into the eldest of our grandson's family. Sadly, the latest restrictions have prevented us from meeting him yet but I can't wait to cuddle him.

Have a great WOYWW and a good week, whatever the restrictions in your part of the world.

I really love lookin at all your embellishments together like that and would have to do some admiring and stroking before I could bear to use them. As for the little pumpkin....he's simply adorable.

Hi Elizabeth I am so needing to use up some stash so I understand you problem, I'm terrible for buying stuff and then not using it up. I even have folders of half used Masterboards that I've made. So this year I am definitely going to use up some old Christmas papers on my cards. Loving Mylo and his little jumper too. Wishing you a lovely week and a very happy woyww, Angela x20x

I really enjoyed reading Richard Osman's book' thought he made a good job if it! I agree with you about trying to use up what we already have, those papers are too pretty to be stuck in a drawer. There doesn't seem to be anything you can do to hurry up recovery from Covid, it takes what it takes....sending you a big hug.

Hi Elizabeth, I completely agree with the problem of sorting double sided papers! Does make life difficult. I'm banning myself from buying any more pads, I have so much dp, unused. We'll see how long that resolve lasts, lol. Stay safe, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 X

Hi Elizabeth. You are doing really well - don't give yourself grief over not always being up to blogging... You have been through so much this past few months! It seems like too much ephemera is a growing concern this week among our community! You are not the first to feel it... Mylo is really incredibly cute - hopefully it won't be too long before you can go see him. Enjoy Richard Osman's book. I loved it, and can't wait for my daughters to finish passing it around so I can read it again. I just laughed out loud with it!
Take care. God bless.

I agree so much about covering up that flower way to beautiful, maybe bring it forward as the focal rather than behind. I used to stack my papers like that but tend to keep them upright now, a lot easier to flick through than piled on top, not that i've used any for ages.. must try get through some of that over stock. Mylo is adorable, love his little halloween jumper.. Enjoy & take care of yourself.. blogger is here when you have a spare moment Tracey #8 xx

Mylo is certainly a cutie Elizabeth, hope you get to meet him properly soon. Howabout cutting along the edges of the flower and tucking photos underneath some of the petals. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #1

Mylo looks adorable . I find some double sided papers difficult as the opposite side can be so different. I stack my papers upright now as I find it easier to access them. I think we all have too much of probably everything, so it’s good to take stock every so often. Angela #36

I definitely agree that the flower is too lovely to cover up - it really is quite gorgeous. I know just what you mean about having too many embellishements - I find it very easy to buy new stash before using any of the old! Mylo is just adorable and I hope you get to meet him soon - I love his little outfit!

Oh the puppy is just adorable and I love his little sweater! I have wayyyy to much stuff too and I inherited a friends entire craft room so I'm busting at the seams ~ I bought one die set for Christmas, and I've been restraining from buying quite nicely in the past year. Enjoy your stash, and your weekend ~ keep crafting! Love, Karen#40

Sorry I’m late! I’m with you e, there is no good way to store the papers. I decided a while ago that on the basis that I bought them because I liked them, that I would resign myself to simply going through the pile each time, it’s a bit clumsy but is definitely working. Interestingly though, I find that challenges tend to require me to start with a plain page which is a bit out of character really. I don’t want to have to buy multi colours of plain, thats for sure! The embellishments....I made a bunch of the portfolios that Kelly ( a desker, Kelly’s creative Dreams) had made and they are serving me pretty well actually, although they arent as rigidly organised as Kelly’s.....surprise surprise! That paper with the flower is beautiful...and I look forward to seeing what you come up with, these big designs are always a prob for me!

Good morning, Elizabeth. I've not been around in awhile either. Let's jump in together! Mylo looks absolutely adorable! Yep.. cuddle for sure. Embelishments multiply when we aren't looking. Some of those embellishments could be combined into 'clusters' making them go on a page quicker. Check out 'cluster embellishments' on YouTube. Oh... grab your favorite beverage - you'll be awhile LOL Then create a playlist to keep the ones you want to refer back to. Creative Blessings! Kelly #31
