WOYWW 227

Hello WOYWWers, Followers and All,

It's that day again ... time to show what's on your desk to Julia, head desker, over at the Stamping Ground, which I see has had a bit of a makeover ... looking good, Julia :)
Photo taken late Tuesday evening.

Still a bit of a muddle but just as I clear one lot of stuff of the desk more seems to find it's way on to it. Someone has probably discovered and named the law to explain this particular phenomenon ... if not, then I suggest it should be called Elizabeth's Law!

Anyway, on to what's on the desk. At the back the usual detritus - regulars to WOYWW will have seen it all before. In front and to the left a new guillotine - it's smaller than my old one, will fit into my tote, and so will see me through the move from one craft room to another. On the right, a book on card making bought second-hand but in immaculate condition, which the postie delivered yesterday ... I just need to find some time to sit down and read it.

And in the middle, as you can see, I've been playing with a ton of inks. Note how they are all neatly labelled ... this was a long overdue task on the to-do list, finally completed yesterday! I've taken my inspiration for the sunset piece from the picture that's next to it. It's an insert that I discovered in the back of an old frame and the colours really appealed to me.
The frame was brown and boring so I gave it a few coats of paint, using the petroleum jelly technique to distress it, stamped flourishes here and there, and finished it off with a couple of coats of varnish to prevent damage. It now frames the twinchies that were the challenge for UKPC members in June. I thought it would make a lovely display in my new craft room :)

I'm thinking I'll make another wall-hanging out of the sunset piece, using the pink gelli print to frame it ... it's a work in progress.

It's the early hours of Wednesday morning here now so I'm off to bed for some much needed beauty sleep. Hopefully I will be up bright and early to link this post ... the reality will probably be that it will be much later than most of you :)

Take care and happy WOYWW to you all.

I have a love hate relationship with trimmers/guillotines/you name it. Expensive ones that don't cut straight are amongst my collection. Got one of these and love it - the only thing is it is so bulky to pack in a bag when going anywhere. Neve understood why it needs to be.
I too have not used those printed labels for my DI's but i did put some on of my own. I have the sheet ready!
Love your sunset picture and it will look fabulous on your wall as does the inchie frame you have just finished.
So many lovely makes - hope you try the faux metal too at some time.

I wish we were organised enough to label our inks, instead we end up digging through the piled up cases until we reach the one we want.

Fabulous frame and the Twinchies look so good in it. I can only cope with all my inks labelled...goodness only knows what I'd end up stamping with otherwise!! A job well done! Hugs. Pam#37

Labelling the inks is a great job out of the way. Beautiful job on the sunset background and I just love your frame. The little twinchies are just perfect. Good luck with the move, are you moving house, or just moving rooms?

I love that you've bought a new guillotine to see you through your move, Elizabeth, now that's thinking ahead. I love my little one and use it far more than the big one as it's so handy to keep on the desk.
Your altered frame is stunning, love it.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for the link to that pattern...how awesome is that!!! It's been amazing how many folk have related to the tatting...the comments have been so lovely and very heartwarming too.
I laughed at your eternally refilling desk..it's exactly the same with my dining table! No matter how often I clear it, it magically refills with junk the moment my back's turned. Completely amazing!
Love that frame btw...really gorgeous :-)

Hi Elizabeth,

I love the sunset piece. The colors are so beautiful; I can't wait to see it framed.

I don't have many inks and most of them are Stampin Up so I get to see the color but the ones that I have that aren't SU, it would sure help in labeling them. Very cool!!

Thank you for visiting me already.

Happy WOYWW

Ah distress inks - I inked a strip of paper, from dark to light, wrote the name on it with a black sharpie (or white in the case of black soot ink), and then glued it on. Last batch even received 2 strips, for 2 sides because I never put them back the right way. Now If I'm smart, I'll just put a strip all the way around - then it's visible which colour it is from 5 sides (top and 4 sides), and by color, not necessarily by name!
I have bad experiences wit h guillotines, (not in a previous life that I'm aware of) but with the bigger ones, paper always seemd to move, or the blade would move a bit, and the cut would not be straight... It's time soon for a new cutter, but no idea which one yet.
I love your framed inchies! The inchies themselves are beautiful too, great contrasts and colours.
