Thanks for popping by. I hope you are well. I've been working on a little project that isn't going too well ... in fact, it's proving to be a bit of a headache ... so I've decided to take time out and do this post instead!
Following on from the Part 1 post showing the kit and first two layouts completed with the help of Shimelle's Return to the Collection workshop I'm back to show two more today.
The backing for this layout is one of my favourite papers from Basic Grey's Fresh Cut Collection - I love the watercolour affect and the bright and cheerful combination of colours. The photo was taken on moving day last year when my two lovely grandsons lent a helping hand to load the van, hence the title.
The background paper used on this layout was included in the kit as a bit of a wild card. It's been in my stash for a couple of years, has no maker's name on it, and that green is bright! However, I liked that it had the word 'memories' and thought it would be appropriate for this photo of the EM and I, taken by a kind stranger on the ferry to Capri. Many of the heart and butterfly embellishments were punched from snippets leftover from making the three previous layouts.
I'm submitting this to Pixie's Snippets Playground because of all those snippet hearts and butterflies :) I'd like to say that the snippet mountain is going down but the reverse is true - I'll swear they are breeding instead!
There's two double page layouts left to share but it will have to wait until I have figured out the best way to photograph them ... so far every photo taken has been awful!
Right, back to that headache little project!

Afternoon Everyone,
It's been snowing off and on today so this vase almost didn't happen! However, the snow hasn't settled, we live too near the sea for that, so, to allow me to join in with Cathy's In A Vase On Monday meme, I nipped into the garden during a brief sunny spell and went bud hunting.
I remembered from last spring that we had a little clump of lesser celandines growing up against the base of the flowering current, ribes sanguineum, in the front border so, hoping it had survived my husband's enthusiastic weeding, I checked it out again. And there is was, the tiniest clump with only four flower buds peeping out. I picked three together, leaving the fourth - if it goes to seed perhaps the clump can be increased. I know some folk think of the celandine as a weedy nuisance but I don't ... they are too cheerful a sight for me to think that.
I also remembered I'd seen some purple crocus just popping through in the little central bed directly in front of the house. There's more this year than last ... all the turning over and digging to plant a rose meant the corms were redistributed and have now increased in number. While I was out front I grabbed some bits of the vinca foliage growing under the cherry tree. I also picked one of buds from the pot of Jumblies (narcissus) placed near the kitchen door.
The tiny thistle shaped vase is only 2½" tall. It was, until recently, used it to keep hair grips in but now that I've had my hair all chopped off it can revert to purpose ... it looks better with flowers in it anyway :)
Next it was into the back garden where I picked the one and only hellebore bud - it's been so disappointing to see that my once beautiful plant which used to flower beautifully is now struggling to survive. At the first opportunity I will dig it up and put it in a pot in the hope of saving it.
Finally, I cut a small piece of variegated ivy and a tiny fern leaf to add to my wee posy.
Within fifteen minutes of picking the celandines and crocus had started to open.
After thirty minutes both were fully opened.
The flowers of the lesser celandines are reputed to open only during day time and then close during the night. I wonder if they will behave in the same way indoors!

Evening Everyone
Well, that's another month over and as it has been a a pretty horrible February I, for one, am really glad to see it gone and delighted to welcome in March, wind, rain and all! I've been happily settled in my craft room all day today finishing off some scrapbook layouts and finding time to make this wee card for Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 166.
Keeping with that spring feeling I've recycled a snowdrop scene from a card I received a couple of years ago. Loads of snippets of core'dinations card got used up too.
Here's how I made it:
- to begin, I embossed a sheet of black/green Black Magic core'dinations card with the folder from the Peacock Collection that came free with an issue of Simply Cards & Papercraft magazine. The embossing has been rubbed over with a Snow Block to reveal the green core. The peacocks are hidden behind the topper.
- the topper is matted on to snippets of green/white Whitewash core'dinations, using both sides to give contrasting layers.
- the snowdrop embellishments were made by stamping, from a Get Stamping Wild & Free Collection, on to a snippet of the Whitewash card with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Each snowdrop was then cut out and adhered to the topper.
- to finish everything was adhered to a 6"x6" square Kraft card base. The sentiment (from Craftwork Cards, I think) was matted on to a circle punched from yet another snippet of green core'dinations card and adhered to the card front.
That's me done for the evening. I'm off to relax by watching Call The Midwife now.
