What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - Week 283

Good Morning WOYWWers!

I hope you are well this fine sunny morning ... well, it is here in Ayrshire today. For now! Who knows what tomorrow will bring. And it's Wednesday, so time to show to the world what's on our desks too, courtesy of our head WOYWWer, Julia, over at her Stamping Ground. So here goes:
The making of Christmas stuff has begun! And that is what I'll be doing for the next few weeks - all of November in fact ... don't try to stop me, I'm a woman on a mission :) This photo was taken late yesterday just after I finished making this festive cushion/pillow cover. I had to have a major clearing up session to make room on the desk for all the sewing equipment needed. Needless to say, the job grew exponentially as space had to be found for all the clutter that had accumulated on my desk ... sigh! Now I have a space measuring 30" x 22" , large enough to have the cutting mat out and to spread fabric, not to mention all the other bits of equipment required for cutting out. The actual sewing happens in the sewing corner.
Here's the desk this morning. You can see what the cover looks like with a cushion pad inside. Also in view is a box of fat quarters that have appeared from which the fabric for the next cover has been chosen. Always a time-wasting exercise ... I dither, can't make up my mind which pattern will look best with what ... it's a wonder anything is ever made at all :)
Finally, just in case you were curious, here's the back of the cover ... an army of snowmen. I've had this piece of fabric in my stash for a few years. I stroked it every now and again then put it away still uncut and unused, but now that's it all used up - there's only the teeniest weensiest scrap left which I'll keep for sentimental reasons :)

Right, time to link up over at the Stamping Ground and check out what on our head desker's desk ... that's Julia, and last time I looked what was on her desk was full of holes :)

Many thanks to everyone who popped in last week - your comments were much appreciated. As I'm here a bit earlier this week I'm hoping to get around to see more desks than usual.

Take care and Happy WOYWW,

Hi Elizabeth. I'm enjoying seeing fabric crafts in the doing on a few more desks this week. Love your Christmas cushion. Have fun with the big decisions and keep stroking the best bits :-)

It's me again :-) I made my bean bags fairly small for the little hands that will be using them and filled mine with dried split peas....I'm sure lots of family fun will be had with them over the Christmas holidays too :-) I intend to get some little numbered buckets from Ikea too and have a few more ideas in the pipe line as well :-)
hugs,

I know it's a wrench using some treasured fabric but when it fits so perfectly into the project then you just have to be happy! Love all the fabrics you've used and the pompom trimmings are perfect. Clever you!

I did not notice the line of pom pom balls on the pillow cover until you padded it up. That's such a nice touch and adds to the festive feeling. Judy #72

That cushion is really lovely, Elizabeth. Our house is quite small, so not room for many Christmas decorations. I made a set of cushion covers last year and - hey presto - instant Christmas. Thanks for sharing, and have a great week. Chris # 7

Oh what a lovely cushion! I love the pompoms. Lucky person who is going to get this as a gift!
I can totally understand the stroking. But there comes a time when you have to be brave and do something with it. Can't you make an album of photos of your finished projects with a tiny sample of the original fabric....that way you can continue to stroke...
Sorry I'm so late in commenting. I like to comment on all of the posts but there just aren't enough hours in the day...
Thank you for letting me look over your shoulder.
Have a good week.

Really like the cute cushion cover. That is what I need to do...make changeable cushion covers instead of buying a cute cushion. I always hate using up my fabric because I just know the perfect project for it will come along and it will be all used up! Have a great week. Vickie #68
