Whats On Your Workdesk Wednesday - WOYWW Wk 398

Morning  Everyone ...

... and a happy Wednesday to you all too. I didn't make it last week and suffered withdrawal symptoms as a result, so there's going to be no missing What's On Your Desk Wednesday - all courtesy of our fabulous Head Desker Julia, at the Stamping Ground of course!
I've been messing, not altogether successfully, with paint. Some time ago, could be a year, could be longer, I spotted this technique online ... source forgotten so many apologies to whoever you are ... showing that it was possible to transfer magazine pictures on to a card base using emulsion paint. I finally got around to trying it out yesterday. With not much success as you can see. I'm now wondering whether to persevere or give it up as a bad job and get back to something I know I can do.
Oh dear, that old adage is ringing in my ears as I type.

Back to the desk and what you can see are all the materials, paint tester pots, brush pot with brushes, an old shower cleaning spritz now filled with water. Out of sight is a folder containing pictures torn from magazines and saved for this purpose. That's about it. Stuff at the back of the desk has had a bit of a switch around - some stuff moved, some stuff removed altogether - to make room for the Really Useful Scrapbooking box you can see top left. I've also made room for my trusty sewing machine No. 1 on the far end of my desk. It's there so I can, if I so wish, sew on paper. No. 2 sewing machine is on the sewing table. My intentions craftwise are, as always, good!

That's it. I've waffled on enough today. I began this post intending to keep it short but ...

I'm off now to get a brew and then I'll be ready to do a bit of desk hopping. In the meantime, thanks to everyone who drops in to see what's on my desk today. If you leave a comment, that's a bonus and much appreciated.

Happy WOYWW,

Great minds think alike this week Ellie....well I've shared a bit of painting too. Sounds like you've enjoyed your creative time so never mind how successful it is and you seem ready to tackle lots more too.
Hope all goes well this week. Sending you big hugs.

Can be very frustrating trying techniques with little success. I have had some success using gel medium my problem is I never leave it long enough to dry!

Hi Elizabeth,I agree, we tend to forget most techniques need a bit of time and practice. The trouble is, those You Tube videos make everything look so easy, lol. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #5 XxX

Good morning, Elizabeth. Go you for giving a new technique a try. I remember seeing where people were doing something similar with National Geographic. (We won't discuss how long ago that has been! LOL) So of course I snagged some at a local book sale to give it a try. Now to go back and watch the video.

This is my year to try techniques and make some things I've been wanting to for years. Wishing us both luck and Creative Blessings! ~Kelly #41

Me back again, Elizabeth. I'm going to do a blog post in the next few days about the dies, and how they cut, so keep an eye out. :) I have to say that so far I've seen no issues with them though. Xx

Helloo Elizabeth - you missed one week? I've missed month's! I think I may have tried that technique - I seem to recall it was pretty grungy. I have had more success with gel medium though I haven't done it in a while. Maybe we should set a challenge!! Happy WOYWW Cindy xx

Doesn't it feel funny to miss a week when you join on a regular basis? Lol. Try the paint technique again. I might try some paint stuff again. I got discouraged when my paint soaked through to another page and ruined it. After going to the paint and wine night with my daughter I had so much fun I think I might try again.

I missed last week, too, but I was out of town. One thing about your playing with paints, you know what doesn't work. I'm sure you'll figure it out soon. Thanks for the visit! happy WOYWW!

I've never tried it with paint. I've tried it with gel medium and that works. Happy WOYWW! Sez x #42

Its been a long time since I joined in so glad you only missed a week. Not seen this technique before but I think it could be a nice background paper for a pretty flower topper

Oh, dear, if this short post is considered waffling, what must you think of my epic posts?! Shall we come up with a name for mine? I can imagine the names some folks call it, haha!! I'm afraid I can't help you with this procedure, but I give you high marks for giving it a go!! Have a great week!! Hugs, Darnell

Trying new techniques for me sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't but I always come away learning something from the experience. Love the work space.

I hate it when I know I've seen a technique and then can't remember where I saw it. There are various ways to do this and you may find another method that works better, don't give up. Have a great woyww, Angela x 9
