A Wellesley Fall - A Scrapbook Layout

Hello Everyone,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend and that Monday hasn't turned out too bad either :) We are enduring more of the wet stuff here in this corner of Scotland. I did manage to get out into the garden for a short time yesterday and started cutting back and tidying up before the really cold weather sets in.

We're definitely into autumn now so it's no surprise to see the subject of the photographs I've been busy scrapbooking - a New England fall :)

Today's share is a 12" x 12" three-photo layout. I rarely do more than a one photo layout so this makes quite a change for me. However, these three photos were taken on the same day, in the same place, Wellesley College campus, a location that is very special to me.

In my forties my life took a few interesting turns, one of which was that I decided it was high time I went to university and got a degree. And because I was particularly interested in American literature, I opted to study for an honours degree in American Studies. This necessitated a year’s study in the States so I applied to Wellesley College, Massachusetts, and, much to my surprise and delight, I was accepted. Which is how I found myself, in 1995 at the grand old age of 47, living in what is, arguably, the most beautiful campus on earth!

These photographs were taken during my first semester at Wellesley College – I absolutely loved the sugar maples. The stamped leaves on the base paper, Cosmo Cricket’s Maple, are embossed using four different colours of powder, gold, crimson, burgundy and lime light. The berries and the alphas for the word ‘fall’ in the title were fussy cut from K& Company Flora and Fauna collection and the rest of the title are made up of Papermania alphas.

I have a few cards to make for specific events but otherwise I'm concentrating on scrapbooking, tags and unfinished WIPs this month ... in short, anything but cards. I've done a tally and there are 58 Christmas cards in the drawer and 27 mixed occasion cards - enough, surely to see me through for a while :)

So, back to the craft space and, in the meantime, I bid you all a very good night and ...

... happy crafting.

Elizabeth, thank you for the kind comment on my blog. Good luck during the drawing which will be the 12th. I love your page, I had to giggle about the American Lit degree, everyone I know here in the states would love to get an English Lit degree. Wishing you well as we fall into Autumn...

You were right on with your comment about that part of NEngland being one of the most beautiful places on earth. We usually go up to that area, at least yearly. Haven't made it this year, and your pics made me a bit homesick. They were lovely, and your layout was fabulous. Congrats to you also, for going after your dream.
