What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - Week 524

Good Morning WOYWWers,

Happy Wednesday to you all.Yes, it's time to show and tell over at Julia's place, the Stamping Ground, again and I have no idea where the last week has gone - it has just whizzed by! Anyway, here's what's on my desk this morning.
There's a birthday card in the making. It's been quite a while since I did any colouring with my markers so I'm a bit rusty. The plan is to use the last bit of the Gelli plate print I've been working with these last few days. I've cleaned my desk too - a deep scrub was well overdue!

Another project I've been working on this week is this UFO.
Another project, the designer calls it a Catch All Caddy, abandoned when the EM's health took a dive last year. I've found it a complicated pattern to follow but it's almost done, at last!

This is my latest sofa project.
Socks again. I'm using sock yarn brought back from our recent holiday in the Peak District.

The danger of sewing is that it involves some very sharp tools.
At the same time as trimming fabric, I managed to trim my thumb too.

I thought you might like to see another photo of the black elder growing just outside my window.
It's stunning. In fact, I've never seen it look so good. It's just too distracting - the birds and the bees love it too.

And finally, the book bit is back.
Not to be confused with the film of the same name, 'The Bumblebee Flies Anyway' by Kate Bradbury is a  lovely memoir of the author's experience of transforming a neglected backyard in Brighton into a beautiful wildlife garden. However, all the time she was clearing, digging and planting with wildlife friendly plants she was aware that her neighbours were doing quite the opposite by decking and paving over their gardens. I really enjoyed this book and now feel justified for leaving the weeds in my garden be.

Thanks for dropping in, take care and have a wonderful WOYWW day.

Hi Elizabeth, lovely projects. Poor thumb, you're not alone, I've managed to snip my fingers with the tips of scissors before now.The book sounds a good read, and I agree it's a shame people totally pave over gardens. A small part is fine, but not the whole thing. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #14 X

Ouch Elizabeth, hope the thumb recovers soon. Love that gel plate background, it goes well with the colours you are using on the image. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #3

It’s the curse of the crafter, sharp instruments make things so easy to cut. Hope it heals fast, those snip type cuts hurt. Love the ‘catch all caddy’, it looks great. Does this mean you’re packing stuff up to take to a crop now and then? I am admiring the deep cleansing of the desk too, I should really follow your example but I seem always to have too much on it....as you know!

Ah glad it’s good to leave weeds be Elizabeth, I’m very justified in that, although did some pruning today, a little, I’ve this tiny lemon tree cos I pruned it that way and it has giant lemons .. so funny must take a photo.
Read up down below on your gelli plate work, must get mine (home made one) out when done some of Job list.. mm may be while but watched this clever video and just dine want to forget its technique.it used brayered grey ink on plate then drop of dissolved brushos ( could be any strong water colour) of three duff colours rabidly over it in gentle drops, was dramatic result I exclaimed out loud with amazement just have to replicate, she then used this beautiful Visible image stamps I think or some other wonderful company you don’t see in Oz.
Love you carry all bag, how clever , I’ve a UPO that’s decades old, must get it out! Nearly done really.
Thanks by the way re ATC it’s very very kind of you, you really don’t need to bother unless you really want to, I know how busy crops are! We hardly talked properly when I was there, I was so very tired but so grateful to be there.
I’m so disappointed mine are lost I suspect. Very sorry. No one seems to have them quite a mystery, as two were sent individually and others in group to Jo. Didn’t have time to make more and really probably just as well!
Don’t understand mail. Once I sent a card to Di and Mrs A on same day in same post and Mrs A had hers in 10 days, and Di’s took 3 weeks or so! I thought they were fairly close to one another.
Well, dear Elizabeth, I’ve nearly written a book in this comment! Thanks for popping over to say hi too. Really appreciated that.
Happy belated WOYWW. Thanks for sharing, Shaz in Oz.x #6

Hi Elizabeth, you have quite a collection of promarkers! Woman after my own heart! I love the catch all caddy - you have picked beautiful fabrics/colours to work with. Ouch to the injury. Hope it heals soon. I confess we have paved and decked over some parts of our garden, but there is plenty of natural habitat too. Enough to tempt, deer, squirrels and the occasional fox, plus so many birds and butterflies I lose count. Thanks for stoppjng by earlier, I did really enjoy colouring my folder covers. I'll keep an open mind on what to do with the last folder. Might go to a crafty festival and see what's on offer. I haven't heard of Darkroom Door and Technique Tuesday, so I will check them out and see if anything appeals. Have a lovely week, Heather xx #11
