Friday Smiles

Evening Everyone,

Time to join in with Annie, A Stitch In Time, with a little bit of what has made me smile this week.

It's been a week to celebrate for my sister, Margaret, because she finally moved into her very own home on Monday after a year of living in a home for the disabled.
Here she is tucking into an afternoon treat while we visited on Wednesday. The new build bungalow is just perfect for her needs. It has extra wide doors, lots of turning space for her wheelchair in all rooms, wall plugs and light switches at just the right height, a specially adapted toilet and wet room and, best of all, a sink that can be raised or lowered depending on who is doing the washing up :)  We spent a couple of happy hours chatting while unpacking and putting away her clothes so that her carer will find it easier to dress her in the mornings.

An extra bonus, as if the new house wasn't enough, is that Margaret now lives just a three doors away from this little fellow.
My great-grandson, Callum was out in the sunshine watching his dad, William, tinker with his car. All my grandsons are huge Formula 1 fans so it's no surprise that the little one is already 'driving' around in his very own racing car!

So that's my good reasons to smile this week. Hope you've had good reason to smile too. If not, I hope this little ditty does. I don't think I'm alone in thinking that we might have been put on this earth simply to wage war against dust for as long as we live.
Maybe it's not too late for me to take note :)

Have a wonderful, though perhaps not dust-free, weekend.

It's great to hear that your sister has somewhere now to call her own and I hope she will be very happy. I agree with the dusting sentiment but still have to do mine tomorrow I'm afraid. Have a great weekend with lots of smiles, Angela x

I was out all day today and got home not long ago. To make matters worse, I've had computer problems. I'm so delighted for your sister. What a joy it must be for her. Those homes are developed by human factors experts who know what they are doing, and I'm glad to read that your sister is a happy recipient of one such home. Everything from beds to desks to (as you mentioned) sinks are taken into consideration, as are tubs, which are designed for people with special needs. This truly made me smile.

I have told my friends that when I die, I want my ashes used for a purpose, which is to help compost my garden. I don't want to become dust in the wind, but a useful commodity! So of course, I LOVED that poem. Besides, dust is just misplaced matter, anyway.

Again, sorry I was late visiting today. I really smiled at your post and hope your weekend is awesome.

I'm off to see if I can find that wonderful poem in one of my books and then I'm going to stick on the fridge door.
I only dust when visitors are arriving. I'm always to busy faffing xx

I'm so happy for your sister that she now has an adapted home. She won't know herself!
I love that poem. I live by that and am enjoying life to the full. I am living in a building site so no point in dusting, lol. I have gotten out of the habit and don't intend to start dusting and fussing again.
Wishing you a very blessed Easter time,
Lisca
