WOYWW - the 4th Anniversary

Afternoon WOYWWers, Followers and All,

Apologies for being so late to the party, almost didn't make it, but this was one celebration it would have pained me to miss!

Yes, time to celebrate this amazing phenomenon that is What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday. When it was instigated four years ago by the equally amazing Julia Dunnit over on the Stamping Ground, I don't think anyone, even Julia herself, could have foreseen or imagined the huge success the weekly snoop fest would become :) I, for one, am immensely grateful to her for the time and effort she puts into organizing WOYWW, not least because of the many friends I have made through being involved. As Julia says, Deskers are nice people.

Right, on to the desk.

Not much to see - just a partly done scrap page. And it may be some time before it's completed too as I'm having to put my feet up, quite literally ... so frustrating! The photo in the layout is of a much younger me with my dad, taken in 1967 - a lifetime ago. I have so few photos of my dad, he died tragically young, that I think it's time I scrapped those I do have. To the left is a pile of paper scraps, ribbon and lace which may or may not be used in the layout. At the back can be seen my TV controls - I listen to the TV while I play craft - that same photo cropped - I thought of using it on the layout but then rejected it - and a dish with bits and bobs of embellishment, also rejected.

That's the desk this week. All that's left for me to do is to thank Julia once again for making this endlessly fascinating weekly visit to folks desks possible, thank Nikki for providing the fabulous anniversary badges - it was difficult choosing from the selection, they are all lovely, but nice to have the choice - and, finally, to thank all of you who take the time to visit and leave a comment week after week. You are all loved and appreciated by this happy scrapping/crafting blogger :)

Right, I'm ready, I've propped my feet up on a footstool and plan on visiting as many of you as time, and my feet, allow.

Take care and happy crafting,

You may say there is not much to see - but it is beautiful - clear, lovely colours, fine memories, and a dish full of pieces to save for something else. What more could we need. Trust you are soon up and about as you would wish.
Have a great WOYWW anniversary, feet up, drink to hand, TV pad close by, and letting the ideas just roam around in your head.

Happy 4th WOYWW to you, Elizabeth! I'm so glad we met through the desks and especially in person when you came down south! I hope you're not having too much bother with your feet....... :-(
That is a really pretty LO, the colours of the papers are so soft and gentle. It's nice to highlight a special photo like that.

Fabulous page Elizabeth, the papers are just perfect for it! Compo the cat has been a very big hit at the cats home, they all thought he was a lovely cat (They didn't see him 5 weeks ago!) They think he is very big and probably the Bodmin Bog monster! He's all black so looks like a black leopard. They phoned to say he was settling in his cage with a snuggle blanket and purring a lot! Just as well, because it is raining here now, and the compost heap would have been very wet and cold! Have a 'fabupus' WOYWW4

Hi Elizabeth! What a beautiful memory in the photo! Seems you and I have lots in common, legs/feet keeping us down and very few pictures of our fathers who died too early. I think it is beautiful the way you are creating the pages for you and him. Hope your feet feel better and you are up and about a little more. It's hard being down. Big hugs to you, Rasz #164 today!

oh I forgot to mention that I love the way you have your abbreviations spelled out on the sidebar of your blog. That helps me SO much since I rarely know what an abbreviation means :)

Hope you still have those feet up and are not slipping. I even do that in bed - we have one of those clever beds that you can raise the head and/or the feet, and I find it really helps me. I love what you are doing with those photos, and I want to do something similar with the many photos I have of Geoff, but I am struggling at the moment to find a good scrapbook to start with. I need two at least, one for each of our children. Take care of your self and enjoy your 4th anniversary . xx Maggie #43

I hope you had a good read while you had your feet up Elizabeth and thank you for calling into see me.
Typical me didn't touch any of the projects on my page... No I started another because I had a piece of cardboard I couldn't bear to part with. It will be appearing in my new blog in a day or two. (I'm still running the old one).
If you've still got your feet up pop over and have a look.

Hi Elizabeth thanks so much fr popping over and saying a big happy WOYWW$ hullo to me already.

Just sometimes find it hard that WOYWW starts at the end of our day here in Oz, I try to do what I can before I go to bed, then next morning feel so far behind so some week never catch up...
Am sorry you have to put your feet up I craft standing up and so that would be really hard pray of it of short duration. I seem to remember you're diabetic so guessing it maybe because of that.. praying for you in it... not being well can be a trial.

ah, dear friend, that scrap page, I love it!
Wow, what a beautifully precious memory thanks for sharing it with us all, happy WOYWW$ Shaz in Oz.x #37

great LO, I love doing the heritage ones. I try to use up at least some of my scraps in any LO. It helps with continuity in the albums, but it also pleases me just to use them up :-)
Did I miss something? Are you injured? If so I hope you get well soon.

I’m sorry to be late in visiting but I’m now on day four of my quest to get round everyone this week. I know it’s going to take some time, but I wanted to say that it’s amazing that the internet can bring together so many likeminded people and I’m grateful that WOYWW has also brought along so many new friends, thanks to Julia.

Aww Elizabeth, I’m sorry to hear that your feet are giving your gip. I know what it’s like when your body won’t let you do the things you want to do because I frequently have problems with my knees. I agree with you, it’s so frustrating.
Your LO is beautiful and you make me feel guilty not having touched my own heritage album for a long time. Maybe when I get back from my holiday I’ll start again. Hope you’re feeling better soon hun.

Enjoy your weekly snoop, especially as we’re celebrating WOYWW’s 4th Anniversary
Happy Crafting!

Sorry to hear you're having to stay off your feet, hope you get to feeling better soon. :)
That is very special you have any pictures of your dad and you together and it looks like your skill with the LO's will result in a lovely scrapbook to help you treasure those photo's and memories. Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment already...I appreciate how you feel about the flush, I am not really looking forward to it, but I really do want to keep my gallbladder as I dearly love fatty foods like cheese pizza! lol :) Deeyll #29
