What's On Your Desk Wednesday - A Day Late

I really meant to post this yesterday, the last WOYWW of the year 2017, but events conspired to keep me from my computer. Not that there was much on my desk to share.
There's been no crafting since Christmas Eve so I thought I'd take a close up of some of the tools I keep at the back of my desk - just a bit more interesting than the sight of a boringly empty desk. The box of punches has got me wondering if they are as popular as they used to be. Now that we have an almost endless choice of dies to cut a huge variety of shapes, it's just possible punches are redundant.

Disappointingly, we didn't have a white Christmas. Every year I hope and every year I'm disappointed. Even when it seems to be snowing everywhere else in the UK there's not so much as a flake landing here. However, I did wake up to a winter wonderland yesterday - a very frosty one so I dashed outside, camera at the ready, to capture the nearest thing to snow I've seen this year. Here's a few pics.

Gorgeous! But the sun soon came out and the frost was all gone within hours.

Hellebore defrosted.

So that's it for this year. Next week it will be the first WOYWW of 2018 and maybe we'll have had some snow by then ... it's forecast but I'm not holding my breath.

In the meantime, I wish you all a Happy New Year and all the best that life can bring you over the year to come.

Oh, and happy crafting too in 2018!

Hi Elizabeth, I agree with you, punches seem almost redundant now. I have quite a lot too, but honestly can't recall when I last used any of them, apart from corner rounders. Might be time for a clear out. Love your garden shots. We actually did have some snow on Boxing day evening, quite a surprise to be honest! Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #13 XxX

Beautiful frosty pics Ellie. No more snow here yet but it’s on the hills all round us and they are threatening more for tomorrow so we will see.
Happy new year my friend.
Hugs,

Whilst a white Christmas would be quite magical, I hate the ice that we always get left with... but your frosty garden looked lovely! I think you're right about the punches, I rarely use mine these days. Helen #1

Lovely neat storage for your punches and other tools, Elizabeth. I love all your gorgeous frostly photos - winter scenes are so beautiful, aren't they! Like you, we have had no snow either, but down in mild Torquay we get very little. Mostly we've had rain and it's been quite cold too and that's not pleasant - I much prefer a dry, frosty sort of cold.

Thank you for your sweet comment - yes, this past year has been rather trying. My hubby's off to the fracture clinic again tomorrow and they'll X-ray it and see how he's getting on, and hopefuly he won't need the operation. I'm so glad you liked my Christmas dinner table and my dress that I was so pleased to be able to get into again after so many years!

I see you are from Ayr - my grandfather used to live in the village of Straiton near Maybole and we had some fabulous holidays in your neck of the woods - I adore Scotland and am proud of my Scottish ancestry. My grandmother was a Highlander from the NE. Happy Hogmanay to you too!

Happy belated WOYWW,

Lovely to see your garden with a sprinkle of jack frost. I got rid of most of my punches years ago and could probably have another big cleanup. Wishing you a wonderful 2018.

Love your frosty garden pictures, look so much better than snow covered. Sorry you didn't get your white Christmas, my daughter was in Pitlochry and was also disappointed no snow.Still use my punches as I have very few dies. Wishing you a Peaceful and Healthy 2018. Anickoana#6

Hi Elizabeth, No snow here for Christmas either, although we have had a few very white frosty and icy starts to the day.

Hope you are soon doing some crafting.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Happy WOYWW
