Sunday Snippets ... and yet more hearts

Morning Folks

And a happy Sunday to you all too!

Out of the pile of hearts I cut recently comes another card ... it's just a phase I'm going through :) ... made especially for Di's Pixie's Snippets Playground - Week 134 today.
And it is made entirely from snippets and leftovers - except the iridescent gem. I have a pack of these, bought because they are so beautiful but, in truth, because they are brown, I rarely find an opportunity to use them. I'm sure we all have items like that in our stash - it can't just be me!

I can't claim the design to be entirely mine ... I'm sure I've seen something somewhere that gave me the idea. I just can't remember where. Here's how I made my version.

Firstly, I shaped a card measuring 4½" square out of a scrap of cream cardstock, creating a tent style card base.

The next step was to layer a piece of red textured card on to a larger piece of Kraft (measure to fit across the card but leave a margin top and bottom.

I then wrapped the seam binding around it and tied it off with a knot. The seam binding was a happy find in the box of ribbon scraps. It was a bit leftover from another project made many moons ago ... it was white to begin with but was dyed using distress inks in a variety of colours that just seemed perfect for this card.

Once that was done the strip of black punched edging - another item left from a previous project (maybe I should start throwing bits like this away!!!) - was fixed to the bottom edge of these layers.

Next, came the hearts - the white embossed one came from that mammoth die-cutting session and the small ones were punched out in Kraft, brown and black to create the design.

The gem was then added as a final touch.

Be warned, I still have a box full of hearts left yet. So, at the risk of boring you to tears, there's definitely going to be more heart cards in the weeks to come as I think of ways to use them up.

In the meantime, because it's a damp and dull day - though incredibly warm and muggy - I'm going to attack the ironing basket then, once that's done, I'm going to devote some time in the craft room ... putting a scrap page together. I have a lovely photo of my two little great-grandchildren that is crying out to be scrapped :)

Thanks for popping in. I hope you all have a wonderful day whatever you are doing.

Happy Crafting,
Materials used: scraps of cream card (the base), Kraft card; red textured card (Papermania) and snippets of black, white, brown card (Papermill Direct); length of white seam binding (Wild Orchid Crafts) coloured with Ranger's Tim Holtz distress inks in a variety of colours; one iridescent gem. Tools: X-Cut Homespun Heart die; Woodware heart punches in two small sizes

Oh I don't think there's a line over which a card with a heart can't be used! Thins is pretty and I'm so impressed that it's all snippets,...quel discipline! I love the seam binding...I haven't any, so I may have to explore the supplier of such...argh!
