Winter Sunshine & Blue Skies ... Celebrating National Scrapbooking Day

Morning Everyone,

And a very happy (Inter)National Scrapbooking Day (NSD) to you all.

I made this page to illustrate just how much the EM and I enjoy being members of the National Trust for Scotland (NTS). Membership allows us to visit so many places of interest, not only in Scotland but in the entire UK for very little outlay. And it does mean that we can visit our favourite places time and time again, for example Culzean Castle Estate, even in winter.

The layout is loosely, very loosely, based on an original by Shimelle Laine, incorporating two small photographs taken at Culzean on a bright winter's day in February this year. I've incorporated last year's NTS membership cards in the layout ... each year the cards feature a great photo taken at one of the NTS properties ... and built embellishment clusters around them.

The colour mix is mainly aqua and yellow, with a some pinks thrown in as a highlight. The base was splattered with blue paint and stamped clouds and feathers in a soft grey before layers of pretty patterned paper were built up to mat the photos. The three embellishment clusters also incorporate the colours in the papers. It's not a particularly inspired title but it does describe what was memorable about that day, one of those perfect winter days when the sun shines and the skies are a brilliant shade of blue, and also it did allow me to incorporate that 'sunshine' sticker which I liked a lot.

Materials used:
A mix of American Crafts Dear Lizzy 5th & Frolic and Crate Paper's Maggie Holmes papers; Pebbles and Jillibean Soup alphas for title; Amy Tangerine Aspire and Artemio 10001236 stamp sets and ink pads - Memento London Fog, Tim Holtz Vintage Photo, Adirondack Brights Sunshine Yellow; Embellishments from American Crafts Dear Lizzy Accent & Phrase, Teresa Collins 'Canvas', My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline Howdy Doody 'Lovely' and Dolled Up 'Favourite' label stickers, stickers, American Crafts Dear Lizzy Leaf & Feather Details, wooden triangle shapes, Card Candi Passionista, green chevron washi tape, aqua/white Bakers twine, Studio Calico Mr Huey Color Mists Heirloom Blue

I hope you are all having fun, and that some of you will be joining in and celebrating NSD too. I'm off to watch Barbara Gray's workshop now but will be back later to announce the winner of my book giveaway #5 and post the book for giveway #6.

In the meantime, I wish you all a great morning,

Great layout, Elizabeth. Looks fab. Haven't been to Culzean in years. If we get a summer this year, I think we'll take a trip down with Ellie.

Love your choice of layout sketch for this Elizabeth (Shimelle does some great ones) and the fact that you've got some personal journalling included. We love being a part of the National Trust in England - it has taken us to so many wonderful venues that would otherwise have been missed. Hugs, Jenny x
