WOYWW 240 - What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday

Afternoon Everyone,

Yes, late, again, to this week's WOYWW, the best snoopathon in blogland thanks to our Keeper of the Desks, Julia but, it's an improvement on last week when I was a whole day late!!!
This was my desk early this morning and I have to admit that it's not changed a bit since then. I've been busy hanging the now notorious curtains - the pair I had to lengthen. A process that seemed to take me forever! I'm glad to report that they are the perfect length, look great hanging up and, bonus for me, I've mastered the art of blind hemming on the machine. As I have another two pair of curtains to let down, it's a skill I needed to get to grips with ... I didn't relish the idea of sewing all those hems by hand.

Anyway, on to what's on the desk. Just a little birthday card in process. This one is intended for a little boy so what you see is some blue and yellow paper ... made into a pinwheel embellishment ... and yellow ribbon. The strange looking black squares are, in fact, magnetic squares on which there are a set each of circle and butterfly dies - you can't see them but they are there :) That's coasters with the robin illustration. What else? ProMarkers, scissors, various adhesives, the wheels of gems that seem to have taken up permanent residence there, black ink pad, another coaster (for my endless cups of tea), acrylic block. Oh, and my very new mobile phone ... which I'm still struggling to master! Why, oh why, does every upgrade have to be so different???

If you are new here, don't know why I would be revealing this shot of my desk, but would like an explanation, then pop over to Julia's Stamping Ground, where all is revealed. If you've been lurking, thinking you would like to join in, then Julia will be delighted to see you ... no matter what or where you craft, it can even be the floor as you will discover, and no matter whether it is tidy or messy ... we've seen it all before :)

Look at the time ... I'm off for a bit of late lunch now but I will be back to pop in and visit as many desks as I can, so perhaps I'll see you later :)

Take care, stay safe and have a happy WOYWW.

I'm so glad you've mastered the art of curtain alterations and haven't asked me :-) ....esp now as just about every job I'm doing starts with me having to search my packed boxes for the bits I need! Really hope 2014 is a happy creative one for us all.

You made me laugh with the Damart wisecrack!! We've got the woodburner going..it's toasty. I cannot even begin to comprehend the temps that some deskers have talked about today....-35? Brrrrrrrrrrr
The little pinwheels are cute...I know they're easy to make but it still seems like magic to me!
Keep safe and warm and congrats on the blind hemming, I'm impressed :-)
Hugs, LLJ 2 xx

Those curtains sound scary, Elizabeth, well done for mastering them on the machine. I wouldn't even have dared attempt such things!!
I've had my phone for years and it still baffles me!!

Hello Elizabeth. I really don't like sewing curtains. Mum asked me to turn some up not long ago - did them of course she said - 'it's not a big job' Happy WOYWW Anne x #40

I am busy making curtains for DD1's new house and I HATE making them. I know its just straight stitching and really easy, but its really boring too and I do NOT deal well with boredom. LOL
Your desk looks great, just missing the cuppa.
Happy WOYWW!

I have a pair of full length curtains that have needed shortening for ages. I suspect I will need to replace them before they get done, but I really should do them as the dogs lie on the overflow, which means they need frequent washing. Whenever I change my phone, I spend hours on the internet trying to find out how to do the simplest tasks - the instructions are always rubbish, aimed at those with a Masters degree in phones. I hope you have a good week, with good weather, good technology and good crafting. xx Maggie #24

Would it surprise you if I said we have been in the UK this time for more than 13 years and this house for at least 10 and that it was only maybe two years ago that I actually shortened the curtains by removing the PINS and TAPE that I added as a quick fix like the day we moved in (to mark the new length and sewed them??? :) Lovely card in progress - see you again in a couple of days....

{sigh} now DS-less and catching up
