WOYWW 189 - What's On Your Desk Wednesday

Good Morning Fellow Bloggers,

It's Wednesday, so time to join all WOYWWers around the world and show what's on our desks today. Simply click the logo on the sidebar to be transported to Julia's blog, the Stamping Ground, and you will be transported to the place where it is all happening :)

And on mine today is a project that should have been completed before Christmas. It's a Christmas patchwork wall-hanging, the brainchild of BJ on the UKPC Yahoo Group. Each member of the group created a patch based on measurements that would make an 8" square when pieced together.  Unfortunately, for me, the piecing together got pushed to the side before Christmas - other more pressing matters - and then I got poorly after New Year so not a lot got done at all. So what you can see is the patches pieced together on a backing of black card that is edged with my version of 'frantage'. Next to it is a piece of cardboard painted black - the pot of paint is just behind - another backing to give the piece stability. The red mirri die-cut edging is to trim the bottom and the corners are for the top.

Behind all that you can see that things are looking a bit more coordinated and swish because of the lovely new plaid desk tidy and baby-wipe cover - the work of those crafty sisters, Annie and Jo. All part of my ongoing, and never-ending, attempt to do the  impossible - keep my desk tidy :)

Since I started to write up this post, the glue gel has dried and the wall-hanging is completed.

Too sad that it has to be carefully wrapped up and put away until December! Thanks to all the girls - your names are recorded on the back - who contributed a patch. Each one shows a wealth of techniques and expertise. The finished piece is lovely and will be hung in a prominent place each Christmas for years to come.

It's the wee small hours of the morning and, as it is getting distinctly chilly, I'm off to bed. I look forward to popping in to see as many of you as I can over the next few days.

In the meantime, have a happy WOYWW and a great week,

Hi Elizabeth, just trying to get around to a couple blogs before I head down to the stamp den (or is that ?din?!). Your patchwork is so lovely, and what a fine idea to share the patches with other crafters to contribute. Your desk is so tidy...sigh...mine is not. I may take a picture of another area so that I can participate at Julia's. Got another little project I need for tomorrow too. So thanks for sharing, and hugs.

What a lovely idea for a wall hanging. I could use some of my christmas cards in a similar way - I never really know what to do with those. And a birthday version too...

That wall hanging is gorgeous, what a clever idea to swap pieces that would make that. Aren't you glad you got it all ready to be pulled out for next year! ♥ waving hi from the soggy laden hills of North Carolina :)

Ok, there are 3 boys around me talking to me while I am trying to visit everyones blogs. Load on top of that I am taking large amounts of cold medicine. So, if I have posted twice, I apologize. The meds and the boys are not mixing well.

I love the patchwork. Very pretty.

Sorry I am a day late. Fighting the nasty flu.
