The Bluebell Woods

Evening All,

Here we are at the end of another beautiful day here in Ayrshire - so far the long weekend has been fabulous. We went to one of our favourite haunts, Fullarton Woods, Troon, on Thursday to photograph the bluebells before they go over. We had our picnic in the shade of this beautiful horse chestnut tree and you can see there was not a cloud in the sky.

The park was at one time the grounds of Fullarton House so the planting is still stunning - mostly rhododendrons.

We did, at one time, have one of the allotments there but gave it up when I became too ill and my DH found it difficult to manage on his own. The bluebells are all around the edge of the allotments so we took a wander over to see how things were growing. I was delighted to see that one of the small apple trees we planted was covered in blossom and looking really pretty.

It was really lovely to be back - I always liked the peace and tranquility that characterised the place and the sound of birdsong was, as ever, a pleasure to hear.

I hope you enjoyed these photos and I'll leave you with one final shot of the wood with its carpet of bluebells.

As it has been so long - well, it feels like that but it is only two days - since I was in the craft room I'm going to potter with some inks and stamps and see what I can create : )

Happy crafting everyone,
