WOYWW 226

Hello WOYWWers, Followers and All,

Having missed two weeks of participating in the WOYWW deskathon I'm suffering from withdrawal symptoms ... I just have to join in this week. So I'm taking a break from house packing to catch up with what Julia, at the Stamping Ground, organiser of this weekly treat, and the many fellow crafters who link their desks every Wednesday, are doing today.
Photo taken late Tuesday evening when I managed to put in an hour at the desk ... half an hour of which was spent clearing away stuff, including the mouldable foam I've been trying out recently - see post here. Anyhow, I did find time to try out my newest stamp - Hero Arts Overexposed Leaves - and a technique involving clear embossing powder and distress inks. I watched this video demonstration on YouTube and thought I'd like to try it out for myself. So what you see on the craft mat is all the supplies needed, inks, stamp block being used as a palette, brush, jar of water, VersaMark and, of course, the stamp.  There's card and patterned paper - used as a guide for the autumnal shades of ink - that may or may not appear on the finished project. At the back is a box lid filled with scraps of card - I really ought to put them away in the snippet box. Beside that is a box of glitter and another of the clear embossing powder. There's several tiny punches that seemed to have taken up permanent residence and a new pack of batteries for the camera. On the right is my dish of adhesives and some scissors.

What you can't see is the clutter surrounding this little clear patch ... it's getting worse as the packing proceeds because I've found myself putting stuff there that I can't bear to pack ... you know the sort of thing, the 'how can I craft without it?' sort of thing. How did I ever make anything with just one black ink pad, two stamps and a pad of rather cheap and nasty coloured cartridge paper?!?!

It's way past midnight here so I'm off to bed now but I hope to be up bright and early to add my link and start visiting as many of you as I can. I look forward to snooping, peering and peeking to see what is on your desk today.

In the meantime, take care and I wish you a happy WOYWW.

Hi Elizabeth - good luck with all that packing!! Love the autumn paper in the middle of your space and all those distress pads - I have 6 at the moment and went to an online store to check out some more before our craft show hits town in 2 weeks and I counted 42 colours - whew I had no idea - and that includes a clear pad for embossing which I didn't know existed - I may have to watch myself at the craft show!! Have a great week - Hugs Mxx #33

I just love that paper and stamp. I do love leaves, so many possible uses depending on the colours, but you can't beat autumnal colours I reckon! Take care Zo xx 65

Packing!! What's going on, this is the first I've heard about any packing, lol!! Nice to see you can still get a bit of time at your desk here and there, you need to keep your sanity somehow! I like your mouldable foam stamps, the buttons on the baby cards really turned out well.

Good luck with the packing! When is the big move? It must be tricky to keep the balance right between packing/crafting. Hope you are both ok...

You definitely have your work cut out for you with packing and moving. Funny how we can remember when our supplies were just the basics and we were on top of the world. I remember gasping when I realized I had reached 100 stamps, now I have nearly that many ink pads....LOL

Love those distress ink pads! Moving is very hard on a crafter--it's almost like you have to pack a to-go project so that you won't have to suffer too much crafty down time. I hope your move goes well, and I am excited that you have a dollhouse too! Thanks so much for visiting me and my dollhouse madness and mess! Happy WOYWW! Sandy Leigh #3

Yes, how did we manage to make do in those early days of crafting?!!! I have to admit that I was a lot more creative in those days, working with what little bits I had, but I'm with you. I couldn't bare to be without so many things now. I really like how your stamped image is coming out. It is very lovely. That technique is well worth all the products it takes to achieve it!

Hey do you want some help I actually love packing up houses LOL I moved 3 times in one year with the defense force, not by choice either but got packing down to a fine art. I dispose of a lot in the process but not art supplies. I like using that mouldable foam too and don't use it often enough. Good luck and thanks for visiting me.

Oh Elizabeth, I do not envy you one bit. The thoughts of packing my craft room alone is daunting. You so rightly say how did we craft with one black ink pad etc. How has this habit grown to such huge proportions?

Must follow your links and have a look at what you have been doing on the previous post. When I get a minute that is.

Hugs and take care
