The lengths Santa will go to ...

... deliver the presents :)

Hi folks, sorry I've been missing for a few days - couldn't even participate in WOYWW yesterday - boohoo!

I overdid it sorting out the craft space and put myself out of action! Nothing permanent, just a little setback and I'm getting back into the swing of things again.

I was able to spend an hour or so yesterday evening in the newly rearranged, reorganised, sorted and tidied craft space - lovely! The cataloguing of stamps was going along nicely until the record cards ran out! It's about half way done (I'm sure I never bought half of my collection - they breed when I'm asleep). A new supply of record cards is on it's way but until they arrive I've found another job to keep me occupied.

There's a couple of boxes of old cards from Christmas, birthdays, etc., waiting to be recycled, so I've challenged myself to make as many cards as I can before the record cards are delivered. This is the first.

When this card arrived at Christmas, I just loved the image of Santa endangering life and limb to deliver that teeny-weeny present to the chick in the nest :)

Inside decorated with washi tape
To make the card, I die-cut the image with a plain circle die and matted it on to a slightly bigger circle (traced from the die then cut out with scissors) made from a snippet of red card which was then edged with crystal  glue. The band across the middle of the white card base is made up of two strips of red washi tape - a very nice houndstooth pattern.  A few red gems and some baker's twine completes the card.

Materials used:
Kanban 4" square white base card
Front image from an old card and X-cut nesting dies - circle
Snippet of red cardstock and Stickles - crystal
American Crafts red houndstooth washi tape
Red/white baker's twine and Anita's gem wheel - red gems

Back decorated with the washi tape
I'm submitting this to Hazel's CHNC challenges and, because I managed to use a snippet of card, to Di's playground too.

CHNC challenge 115: Santa and/or his helpers - no helper but Santa himself and clearly he needs helpers!

CHNC challenge extra for March

Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground - Week 63

Now, as I'm under orders to take it easy, I'm going to fetch a cuppa and settle down to visit some of my fellow bloggers - I'm curious to see what you've been up to in my absence :)

Take care everyone and happy crafting,

What a great job you did Upcycling this great topper. you always amaze me when you casually say that you cut the circle mat by hand! You are a fabulous fussy cutter as they always look so professional.

I can fussy cut an image but I'm hopeless with cicles!

Lovley card Elizabeth!

I love this card, The red and white is fab and that image is fabulous! I am going to think more carefully before I recycle my cards in future - I will save the best images and take a leaf out of your book! Thank you for the idea! Take care - no more overdoing it! xx

Good to have a sort out and organising, Elizabeth, but a shame that you suffered for it - hope you are getting back on top form. Delightful card for both of my CHNC challenges - see you soon. x

I'm always amazed with how folks like yourself manage to recycle older cards and create brand new ones from the elements! This is so cute with that Santa crawling on the branch! I love all the sparkle and bling! Well done!
