Morning Everyone,
Yes, it's still morning and I'm here on the first day of May for Julia's
WOYWW. You could be forgiven for thinking I'm turning over a new leaf - sharing a post this EARLY - but I very much doubt it. Next week I'll be back to normal and late as usual. So here's my desk as it is this morning.
Not the usual craft desk but the sewing table in it's new home. And there's some new fat quarters - as if I needed more fabric but there's llamas in the print - I couldn't resist.
I'm at a sewing class tomorrow - we're making a Keek-a-Boo bag - and I didn't have the right size of zip so had to go shopping. I found the zips in Dunelm Mill and the pack of fat quarters just jumped into my trolley - as they do!
The stash sorting finished and clearly I didn't really need any more fabric. My name is Elizabeth and I'm a fabricaholic!
When I was sorting out I discovered this project waiting to be finished. I've worked at it over the last few days and it's now almost done - only the binding needs to be added.
Another project finished - the one that was on my craft desk
last week . I quilted it and sewn, using free motion stitching, around the stamped design before making a lavender bag with it. It's an experiment. I think I need a lot more practice with the free motion sewing technique.
And finally, the book bit. Just one again today.
'Fireweed' by Jill Paton Walsh is a re-issue of a tale set in wartime London, first published in 1969, for younger readers. After reading about the book in
Lucy Mangan's 'Bookworm: A Memoir of Childhood Reading' I thought I should read it too and I'm so glad I did. It's about two teenage runaways, Bill and Julia, who refuse to be evacuated from London and their struggle to survive the blitz of 1940. It's hard to believe the author no longer appreciates this heartwarming story of teenage love because it's a great read.
Well, I did begin this post this morning but now it's afternoon. Where does the time go! Happily, it's just a few weeks to
WOYWW Crop Ten and I'm so looking forward to meeting up with many of you again, and several I've not met, i.e. in the flesh, yet.
