Friday Smiles

Hello Everyone

Friday again! My how the week flies. It's time to join in with Annie's Friday Smiles over on A Stitch In Time.

We took a trip to the EM's favourite fishing village, Portpatrick, on Sunday. It was a cloudy but dry day so the photos aren't the brightest but here's a few taken there and on the drive down the coast.

On a summer's day this view of from the coastal road, just south of Girvan, looking down on a beautiful bay which is popular with walkers, is simply stunning. 

The following shots are of Portpatrick.

Of course, after such a long drive we found somewhere for a cuppa and bite to eat. We chose the 'Port Pantry' and we had a table in a very cosy wee corner. We had a warming bowl of potato soup with coffee and cake to follow - delicious.

The weather has been unseasonably warm this week and we continue to spot unmistakable signs of Spring in our garden.

And finally, unbelievably, we've been spotting bees buzzing about the place.

Here's one I caught on the Skimmia. This one was clearly just basking in the warmth of the sun.

So there you are - I've had a lot to smile about this week and I hope you have had an equally good week too.

Friday Smile

Good Morning,

I hope you have had a very good week with plenty to smile about and share with Annie at A Stitch In Time. My husband's health hasn't been so good, necessitating a trip to the doctor, but despite that it's not been such a bad week. Here's a few photos showing what helped us smile this week.

Warning, yet another photo heavy post.

On Saturday we took a trip to Ballantrae to see Alfie at Craigiemains Garden Centre. He looked as pleased as any donkey could to see us ... the carrots helped :)

After Ballantrae we carried on down to Portpatrick where himself cosied up to this very fierce looking gorilla. Eat your heart out David Attenborough!

Also at Portpatrick was this display put on by the Dumfries & Galloway Blood Bikes. It's a charitable organisation set up by local volunteers to deliver essential blood and urgent medical supplies, in and out of hours, between hospitals and healthcare sites in South West Scotland and sometimes beyond. They were an impressive bunch, enthusiastic about what they do, and all for free!

This is my youngest grandson looking very sheepish as he shows me his sunburned arms, face and neck. This was after a walk with his college mates - they just didn't realise that you could get so burned while simply walking and not sunbathing. They are Sport and Fitness students!

What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday - WOYWW Week 402

Hello Deskers, Followers and All,

Another Wednesday, another WOYWW over at Julia's Stamping Ground, and so another excuse to reveal all!

Not a lot going on today - just a bit of sewing. Actually, confession time, that log cabin block isn't right. The sewing is squint - the seams should be precise but they're not - so I'm going to have a ripping time with a beginner quilter's best friend, the seam ripper tool. On the right the start of another block can be seen - that one is fine. The folder at the back contains the instruction sheets from Amanda, Cake and Crafting, our quilting teacher and there's the inevitable cup of tea - can't sew without one! And those little scraps of paper on the left - they are labels I used on the fabric - they are to remind me of the order they should be sewn to create the log cabin pattern. And around the periphery a box of pens, a tray of tools and stuff, boxes of scrapbooking supplies and the album - slow progress there because I keep getting distracted by sewing projects - for example:

This cushion is made from a tea towel bought from the RNLI shop on Portpatrick Harbour.  I made it especially for the EM because both the village and the shop are dear to his heart.

So that's it for me this week. Not a lot but there's been a lot of family stuff going on so I've had very little time to craft. It's not just the days that go fast, it's the years. My youngest grandson is 18 today!
