Old Stash

Hello Everyone

I've been prompted to search through my stash to look for the oldest items I have. Here's just a small selection of papers that I found. I've purposely concentrated on papers because it would take me forever to sort through stickers and embellishments and I'm in a hurry!

The oldest paper is dated 2004 from Paper Adventures. There's also papers from Basic Grey dated 2009, Prima Marketing dated 2010 and Echo Park dated 2011. That's the dated ones. There's even more that are not dated at all which suggests that they are very old indeed. For example, there's Anna Griffin, Le Crea Designs, Kaisercraft and Webster's Pages. 

Some were bought from a shop in Ayr that has long since gone, and others were from one of the first online shops I discovered, Funky Farm Scrapbook Barn also sadly gone.

As I aim to use up as much old stash as possible before I begin buying any new, I'll be focusing on making pages featuring these lovely old papers. If only, because my current craft room is much smaller than the previous one so I need to make space before I'm tempted by all the lovely new collections!

I hope you are all enjoying this Bank Holiday weekend. Up here in the not so frozen north we are enjoying lots of sunshine but the breeze is still a tad chilly for my liking. Perfect weather for staying in and joining in with some of the challenges to mark International Scrapbooking Day weekend.

NSD (iNSD) - Scrapbook Pages

 

Yesterday was National Scrapbook Day, or International Scrapbook Day depending where you are in the world, and I celebrated by stealing some time out in the craftroom. And lovely it was too.

The scrapping world threw a bonanza of challenges and blog hops to mark the day but I decided not to join in but do my own thing. The result is this page. 

The photos of my daughter and me are from 1972 when she was just a year old. We lived in an Air Force camp near a German village called Geilenkirchen. The summer days there were long and hot, much too nice, and too warm, to go to bed. It became the routine to get the children ready for bed but let them stay out in the garden while the temperature went down with the sun. With a bit of luck it led to a good night's sleep. 

These photos were taken just last summer. Clematis are probably our favourite climbers and we now have quite a collection growing around the garden giving us colour from spring through to autumn. The three in the photos are summer flowering.

And just for quickness I used the same sketch, from Scrap a Sketch's 4 Seasons in a Month challenge, Summer No.6, for both these pages. 

I'm certain many of my fellow scrappers made loads more pages yesterday but, as the holder of The World's Slowest Scrapper title, I am very happy with just the two. Every page means a few more of my photos, my memories and my little stories are recorded.

Scrap Pages 16, 17 & 18/2021 - International Scrapbooking Weekend

Hello Everyone,

Welcome again to my blog and thanks for dropping in.  This is not just a post celebrating International Scrapbooking Weekend - yes, 1st of May was officially International Scrapbooking Day but, of course, the fun stretched over the entire weekend - but the pages I'm sharing today are the first of those I've created with the help of Shimelle's new online class, Half and Half .

Hygge Season 2020

I can't get away from how Covid has, over the last year, quite dramatically changed our life. Normally, we would have spent much of autumn outdoors visiting our favourite places and enjoying the last of the warmer days before winter set in but not in 2020. This page is my way of recording how very different it all was. That life was all about staying in, being cosy and keeping myself busy with books and hobbies. The papers and stickers used are mainly from Photoplay's 'Heart & Home' and 'The New Normal' collections. I used American Crafts' thickers 'Grove' and 'Sorbet' for the title. 

Settling Into the New Patch

My page for Shimelle's second class feature photos taken of our late cat, Bonnie, as, when we moved into our new home, she got to know her new prowling ground. I enjoyed making this page - it brought back happy memories and I got to use some very old (2015) papers from Echo Park's 'Meow' collection as well as some from a newer collection, 'Playful Pets'. The title is made up from some very old (2012) Pebbles thickers, 'ABC', the black American Crafts' 'Sorbet' and red stickers from Echo Park's 'Meow' collection. Many of the embellishments are from the same collections but a few are from old stash.

Best Foot Forward 

And my favourite layout from the weekend. It features photos of my gorgeous little great-grandaughter Lacie setting out on her first day at primary school. I just love everything about this page from the  beautiful striped paper - Dear Lizzy Stay Colorful 'Awesome Possum', the water colouring with Vicki Boutin powdered pigments, the stamping with  Amy Tangerine's 'Brave & Bold' stamp set, to the title made up from a combination of  Pink Fresh's 'Noteworthy' puffy stickers and American Crafts' sparkly black 'Tuxedos & Tiaras' thickers.

I do struggle to find time to scrap at the moment so I'm delighted to be keeping up, more or less, with Shimelle's class. I enjoy watching her videos and being inspired to step out of my comfort zone and do something different. Apart from anything else, it brings variety to the contents of my scrapbook albums and that is no bad thing. 

Hopefully, I'll be back again soon with a few more pages, just for the record.
