All The Flowers - Shaving Foam, Frantage and Beadazzles

Surprise! I wasn't needed for jury service after all ... just like they didn't want 79 others who received a citation too. So I live to be cited another day :)

Now, what has your day been like ... a good one, I hope.

March's swap challenge on UKPC required a card made using the shaving foam marbling technique so here's what I came up with.

I marbled some white card with a mix of turquoise and brown shimmer inks and the result was very nice. It's not too evident in the photograph but there is also a very pretty scroll with flowers and butterflies stamped in aqua on top of the marbling.

Before matting it on to a turquoise cardstock, it was sprinkled with various Frantage powders and sparkly/flaky bits from a turquoise encrusted jewel kit. Yes, after months of mixing my own powders I caved in and now have one beautiful kit. Love that the result is different every time.

The flowers were stamped, embossed and cut out of turquoise vellum - and that's Beadazzles in the centres - something else for me to love :)

Inside and back were decorated with the trimmings of the marbled cardstock.

Base: white Kanban A6 size card base; scrap of Core'dinations cardstock - turquoise textured - for matting
Background: smooth white cardstock, shaving foam, Luminarte Radiant Rain in Teal Zircon and Autumn Leaf for marbling; Tim Holtz distress ink, Peacock Feathers and Dimensions Crafts Butterfly Scroll; Stampendous Frantage Encrusted Jewel Kit - Teal
Topper: Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Twenty-Five, Verve Stamps - All The Flowers, VersaMark, Heat-it-Up Gold embossing powder

Ribbon: aqua seam binding from Ribbon Girl

It seems I'm going through my turquoise phase at the moment ... but it is a pretty colour that seems to be liked by most people. I once read that it is the only colour that suits everyone, whatever their skin and hair colour and I'm inclined to agree.

Because of the scraps of Core'dination cardstock and vellum used for the flowers I'm hopping and skipping over to Pixie's Crafty Snippets Playground - Week 66 - and I'll stop by to see what Di has been up to today while I'm there :)

Right, methinks it is time for a cuppa.

Mistletoe and Hearts - CHNC Challenge 114

Afternoon All,

It's the weekend and it's raining, what else! I hope the weather is better wherever you are in the world. And when it rains, you will find me in my favourite place - the craft space ... well, it is the perfect excuse :)

Now, it's not like me to be so quick of the block for Hazel's challenge, but it just so happened that this card I made yesterday fitted perfectly the remit for her CHNC Challenge 114 - ribbons, ribbons, ribbons.

The base card is pale yellow ... I can't remember where I got these coloured card blanks but they do make a change from white. The scalloped patterned paper is another piece from the Christmas goodies that I've challenged myself to use. The pink berries on the mistletoe are a bit out of the ordinary, giving me the opportunity to make a card in non-traditional colours - pink, yellow and green.

The new ribbon storage, as described in an earlier post - see here - is paying dividends already. It took a matter of moments to find ribbon that toned with the pink in the paper - some gorgeously silky seam binding which, if my aged memory serves me well, came from the Ribbon Girl. To get the crushed look, I just dampened it, scrunched it and then gave it a quick blast with the heat gun - worked a treat :) The little brad is  from an old Docrafts collection from a couple of years ago.

The label was too white so it's been inked with TH's Scattered Straw DI to tone it down a bit. The other supplies, the hearts and the pink gems are from my stash.

As if I haven't stunned Hazel enough already, I've also remembered to submit my card to her CHNC Extra Challenge for March.

Right, I'm off back to the workspace ... up to my elbows in stamp organisation now. It's not just spring cleaning that's driving me to tidy, sort and organise - it's necessity! After several years of crafting, I now have  more paper, ribbon, stamps, inks, etc., much more than when this obsessional hobby first took hold of me. The EM might say, too much :) (Actually, I think it breeds in the night!) And, given that I am now getting on a bit and the memory isn't quite as sharp as it was, I'm having trouble keeping tabs on it all. So, you see, the sorting out is absolutely essential.
