Hello Everyone

Such a kindly autumn,
so mercifully dealing
With the growths of summer,
I never yet have seen.
                                                      William Cullen Bryant

Here we are in November and the garden is still bursting with colour and there is still plenty of blooms to gather together to fill not just one vase but, as can be seen, several.

A trug full to overflowing, so much so there's no space for the picking of sweet peas. I don't remember every seeing sweet peas in November, although I do recall having roses still blooming one year in a German garden where we lived for a few years. I also remember how surprised, delighted even, to see them there. In Edinburgh, where I grew up, I don't think I ever saw roses at this time of year.

Just one of the 'arrangements' made from that trug of goodness. Plonked in the jug are the deep pink Asters, novae-angliae, red, pink and yellow antirrihums and cherry red achillea 'Cassis'

I'm loving this combination of reds and pinks though I have added a little yellow and gold for contrast.

This pink/yellow antirrhinum is so pretty and the sprig taken from my little green beech tree is a golden delight.

Just as soon as I can, I will be lifting and dividing the asters ... I look forward to seeing more of those lovely cheery flowers spreading around the garden.

Once again I'm joining in with Cathy at Rambling in the Garden with this vase this week.

Happy Gardening,

  11. Your November flowers are doing great, Elizabeth! I am inspired to try to grow some dark red antirrhinums next year, as well as some sweet peas. The pitcher is cute with the matching red flowers.

  13. Your red antirrhinums are so lovely, I didn't know they were such long bloomers. I got some seeds for some already for next year. They also match your red flowers on the jug. I like the pink asters, roses, and yellow leaves with them too, lots of pretty flowers for November, Elizabeth!
