Joining in with Cathy’s ‘In a Vase on Monday’, here is my vase, the contents of which are what happens when I'm spoilt for choice in the garden. Summer has come to Scotland, albeit somewhat late, and to celebrate flowers are blooming all over the garden.
Like this lovely Cosmos - variety unknown because it was bought from a local garden store and just labelled Cosmos White - the white and pink single flowered Dianthus which came in a lucky dip seed pack from The Cottage Garden Society, and white lace flower, Orlaya grandiflora.
This is one of my husband's roses, planted before he learned to keep plant labels. It's a highly scented climber which is very floriferous, and the blooms are a lovely two tone pink.
Also included are pink and blue Russel lupins, Astrantia Buckland, Ammi visnaga, Eucalyptus gunnii, our inherited Escallonia- variety unknown - and a dwarf form of Munstead Lavender, raised in Scotland so well suited to our cooler temperatures.
I chose a very plain clear glass vase filled with black glass pebbles to plonk the flowers in - nothing fancy. The heart-shaped stone engraved with the word garden was discovered on a recent visit to Castle Douglas. The doily is one I crocheted in ecru cotton some 48 years ago when I was a young newly wed living in Northern Ireland. If my memory serves me well the design is called the pineapple pattern. It has lasted well.
If you liked my vase this week, you might like to pop over to Rambling In the Garden where you can not only see Cathy's gorgeous pink Baby Face arrangement but also check out many other vases too.
Happy Gardening,

Oh such lovely colour combinations, Elizabeth - everything works together so well. I love my A Buckland - it is so obliging and seems to flower forever if it is cut back after the first flush. Thanks for sharing.
What beautiful flowers, how cool they are all from your garden! Your crochet doily is lovely too - what a nice keepsake! xxx
