Winter Daisy - for CHNC challenge 227

Afternoon Folks

Hazel's CHNC challenge to us this week is to create a girly card, or at least one featuring a female or for a female. I think this one fits the remit very well.
It's yet another card made from bits and bobs from the snippet box and a digital topper, Winter Daisy from Squiggles, already coloured with ProMarkers which I found tucked away in my box of ready to use toppers.

Here's how I made it:

- I began by covering a square Kraft card base with the red/white patterned paper, a good match for Winter Daisy's coat, boots and hat, from the Cosy Christmas Collection - free with an issue of Quick Cards- and inked the edges with Fired Brick distress ink. 

 - I then found a two snippets of patterned paper just the right shade of green to match the greens of Winter Daisy's scarf and mittens, each a different sized oblong, from the Milton & Co Christmas paper stack, and again inked the edges with red before positioning them to overlap and adhering them to the front.

 - Next, I die-cut a scrap of red mirror card using a Tattered Lace Mini Die to create a pretty ornate trim which was then glued to the green paper.

 - The topper was matted on to a piece of smooth red card and then added to the front of the card using foam pads for dimension.

 - The front was then embellished with a bow, created from red and white Baker's twine, decorated with a red pearl. Another red pearl was added to the snowflake on the topper and several white pearls, in two sizes, attached to three corners of the card front. 

 - Leftover strips of the red/white patterned paper were used to decorate the inside and back of the card. 



Quick to make, I think this little card will be perfect for a little girl at Christmas, or even for a winter birthday.

As promised by the Met Office the weather has taken a turn for the worse again so no gardening for me today, or for the next few days it would seem :(

However, looking on the bright side, it does mean more time for crafting :)

    It's been howling a gale here too...I've had a day at my desk....doing tax returns! Love this girly card, fits the bill perfectly...and I really like the additional decorative inside.
