Good Morning WOYWWers, Followers, and All,
It's Wednesday again time to hop around other folks desks, oohing and gasping at the revelations thereon, and all because the Queen of Desks, Julia over at the Stamping Ground, has made it all possible. Not taken the plunge yet, not dared to bear all, so to speak, then now's the time to join in. Simply click on the WOYWW logo on the sidebar and prepare to be transported to a ton of crafty workdesks around the world.
And after all that, here's mine this morning.
The most noteworthy item on my main crafty desk today is the ray of sun ... it's going to be another lovely day :)
This week there has been a lot of chat with crafty friends about sewing and the various pros and cons of sewing machines and this has prompted me to dust mine off with the intention of practising on some card and paper - so far all attempts have been pathetic and fit only for the bin but I'm not going to give up without a fight this time.
Just behind the basket of punches, temporarily relocated to make room for the sewing machine, is a green tote bag I've resurrected from the garden shed. After a spin in the washing machine, it's come out almost as good as new and is now holding lots of crafty tools.
On the other worktop is my craft iron, Cuttlebug, and a pile of embossed sheets of waxed paper. I'm trying out the technique as demoed by Ali Reeves on TV. So far it's not gone too well. Ali uses her masks for this technique but my attempt with one was less than successful. So late last night the embossing folders came out and I had a great time passing them through the Bug, got quite carried away and probably did too many, all with the intention of doing a bit of ironing today ... probably the only time I will ever willingly plug in an iron :)
Before I go, just a quick update on how my sister, Margaret, is. She's is off oxygen and all the various drips and over the worst. Apparently, full recovery will take some time so she has been transferred to another hospital, one that, as she has MS, Margaret is very familiar and comfortable with, to begin her recuperation. For a while there it was touch and go, we all had a huge scare, but, thankfully, Margaret has won through and we can all breathe a great big sigh of relief :) Many thanks to everyone who sent her their good wishes - all those kind vibes obviously had the desired affect :))
The Boss woke me just after 5 this morning, being sick on the hall rug ... her sense of time and place is impeccable! So now it's 8am and I need another cuppa, and my muesli and yoghurt, before I can settle down to visit as many of you as is possible.
Happy WOYWW to you all,

Hi Elizabeth,
What is this technique you are doing I'm curious? Tell me more?
Sorry to hear about your sister being so ill, you never know what around the corner do you? Glad to hear she is doing well now though.
Bonnie does pick her times...maybe later when you were a little more awake would have been better!!

Great relief about Margaret's recovery...it doesn't matter how long,as long as she improves, huh! My sewing on paper and card tip is: invest in another pack of needles and minutely slacken the tensions. I'm totally unfamiliar with this embossed wax paper idea, so will be looking to you for samples, hints tips and brilliance as usual.
So pleased to hear that M is on the road to recovery even tough it's going to be slow. Sounds like she is getting good considerate care too.
Sooner you than me wake up to the Boss's gift!! Poor you.
Make sure you add your name to my blog candy... a bit of fun there too.
love JoZarty x
Must have been quite a worry with your dear sister.MS is such a cruel disease.Glad she's recovering now.
Glad you have been having fun too Elizabeth.

What is it about rugs that attracts cats' attention? They are never sick on a wipe-clean floor, are they? I hope it was just a momentary blip, and that The Boss if ok. I'm glad your sister is doing better now too and will be thinking of her during her recuperation. Hats off (although I'm not wearing one) to you for being brave with your sewing machine! Happy WOYWW! Great Eliazabeth that your sharing your good news with us about your sister it's bound to take time but at least you know things can only get better, your desk looks busy take time out and relax take care, xx
So Glad Margaret is on the road to recovery.. it will take time but very happy that each day she will get a bit stronger.. Yikes.. the Boss I bet it was a furrball..or dare I say a mouse..
Looks like a dolls house on your desk so pretty.. and as for the sewing machine.. I need to buy another, but was thinking of just getting a little one for cards.. as a friend said that the fibres of the paper in the end damaged her everyday machine..? or maybe she was just unlucky?
Have a happy week, Hugs May x x#40
Glad to hear your sister is improving, must be a huge relief. Yuck horrible alarm call for you today, ah the joys of owning pets! Great desk, loving the sun ray. I often watch Ali and think about her techniques but them often forget and never do attempt them. Must try harder! Take care & enjoy snooping this week. Zo xx 77
Pleased to hear your sister is on the mend, and that you have sunshine. We have forgotten once more what it looks like!

Phew, glad to hear Margaret is on the mend. Scares like that really make you appreciate our loved ones and what's really important...
I have no real idea of what sewing on waxed paper entails but it sounds tricky!!
I am having a fab time with my beads, ooooh, I've definitely given in to my inner bling!
Hugs, LLJ #13 xx
Best wishes to M. So pleased to hear the good news. Now keep practising with that sewing machine!! lol. x Jo
Glad to see the sewing maching out and at the ready Elizabeth. I'm sure you'll master it. Bit like a new car really - takes a week of driving before it stops feeling like an alien! Great tote and wish I hadn't read to the end about the cat - total phobic in that department!! BJ#19
I too have a neglected sewing machine, with some hits and misses, but when you do get it right on a card or layout the effort is so worth it, so keep at it, practice makes perfect!

love the idea of sewing on paper for cards etc, but can never be bothered to get the machine out i really should shouldn't I?
janet #120
I have forgotten what you do with the waxed paper and iron, but I know I was going to try it once. i couldn't get the waxed paper at the time!
Not to worry. There is always something else to try.
I can't even get my sewing machine to sew fabric decently, so I am not going to fight with it over paper and card!
At least you have a nice tidy workdesk, making space for them both.
I have blog candy on offer so feel free to sign up to be in with a chance to win.

Good news about your sister - here's to a steady recovery.
OK, so where did you find waxed paper then?
And it's the early hours here so I'm off to bed - all envelopes were done in double quick time too :)
Belated Happy WOYWW! Di xx #3
I'm late getting started this week. I blame it on the Linky snafu. It sounds like good news about your sister. I look for news of her continued improvement.
I have used wax paper to get texture from an iron, but never through a die cut. Of course it's probably because I don't have any (grin). I'm number 22 this week.
Hi Elizabeth,
I'm so glad to hear that your sister is on the mend and is at a place where she feels comfortable. That will definitely help with her recovery.
Hmm, so, after you embossed the wrap what were you going to do? Can I see it in a future post. I just got my cuttlebug out of the closet and have been playing around with it.
Today is my one year anniversary - blog candy will be announced soon. I'm taking a poll so pop on over and leave me your 2 cents!
Happy WOYWW

Great news, now hopefully you can get some rest yourself and know she is being cared for.
Sorry to hear about The Boss now what had she eaten?
On to crafting - not a clue what this technique is you have been trying and not sure I am going to use my machine at the moment but one never knows.
Thanks for sharing - Hugs, Neet xx #36
I have been away so long, I did not even know your sister is sick! Glad to hear she is on the mend and sending hugs and prayers your way.
Looks like you have a whole lot of ironing to do, hope it takes a long time, long enough not to iron any clothes.
Happy belated WOYWW

What a desk of inspiration you always show!
So pleased to hear the good news regarding your Sister. Being moved to more familiar surrounds will be good for her too.
Have a good day Elizabeth.
Love Jules xx
Hi Elizabeth
I'm really late getting round to everyone this week! Thanks for stopping by my blog though.
Sorry to hear about your sister, but glad that she's improving. Equally sorry to hear about your sleep being broken by The Boss - don't our pets just love to pick the worst and most inappropriate moment to do something like that?
