WOYWW 122 - Organising Stash for Christmas Projects

Morning WOYWWers, Followers and All,

Well, it's Wednesday again so, for many of us (126 of us last week, in fact) it's the signal to reveal all ... well, all that is on our work desk/table/kitchen worktop/floor today. Interested, don't know what I'm talking about, then pop over to the Stamping Ground where Julia, Keeper of the Register, reigns supreme and where you will find you can hop from one desk to another and discover a world of crafters.

Today my desk is covered with Christmas papers and stamps. I got myself into a wee bit of a panic yesterday over my preparations for the big day ... there is so much on my list to do  ... cards, gifts, even tree decorations, etc., are somewhere on that list ... and there are ONLY 81 days to go ... help!

So I decided to take a leaf out of someone else's blog ... a fellow WOYWWer I think, just can't remember who, apologies to you whoever you are, drop me a note if your recognise yourself and I'll pop a link in here ... anyway, thanks, for the idea to get together all the Christmas related stash in my possession with the intentions of putting it into a container and keeping it right there on my desk ... handy, so that I can just crack on with that list ... from now on it's Christmas all the way!!!

It's not a bad action to take either ... I discovered stash I loved but forgotten I had and, bonus, plenty of it. I might not need to buy any more for this year ... some hopes of that, the DH and I are off to the SECC craft show at the end of the month ... do you think I'll be able to resist and come home empty-handed? :)

Confession time, last week I struggled to get around you all, bad WOYWWer that I am ... what's new, I hear you say ... well, not much I suppose but I just wanted to apologise ... again, sigh! I love visiting your workspaces, seeing what you're all up to, and getting invaluable advice and creative ideas thrown in for nothing. You truly are a marvellous bunch of people and I really, really, really (a bit OTT perhaps?) appreciate you all, every last one of you, even if I don't visit every week, leave a comment - blogger can be a tad difficult sometimes and prevent communication - and generally being a good WOYWWer. Hopefully, I will do somewhat better this week.

After that I'm totally emotionally and physically drained so I'm off to make a reviving cuppa and then I'll be back to start snooping/nosing/peeking at your workspaces - see ya :)

Happy Crafting,

  1. oooh look at all that lovely xmassy stash! great idea to get it all out (whoever started that off) it's easy to forget what lovely things you have stashed away! although it is always nice to get some new stuff too :o) x

  2. Hi Elizabeth - sure it wasn't Wills! One of the comments from my friend Jo informed me that he was at a wedding the day before so it could not have been him. Drat!
I know Indigo Blue have those houses but not sure what P&P would be. The shop I got them from has closed down - sad face now!
You know I keep all my Christmas stash together but it doesn't help me - I think I am beyond help when it comes to Christmas prep!

    Hugs

  3. A nice seasonal desk this week Elizabeth.
I have all my Christmas stash kept separate too. The papers and sticker are all in one box and I keep all my stamps in another so when I ‘do Christmas’ I just get the boxes out and put them on my little fold out table beside me.

Are you absolutely sure it’s ‘only’ 81 days to go….you must have made a mistake surly!
    Happy Crafting!

  4. Wow, Elizabeth, I haven't even started a list for Christmas. Xmas definitely is NOT my favorite holiday (it's Halloween and Thanksgiving) and usually I start very late on anything Christmas... to my utter surprise, I've already done the calendars (with my photography) that I often give as presents, but only because it was a great offer at Shutterfly! So please don't panic - you can do a LOT in 81 days!

  5. 81 days away?? Nooooo, can't be true. I don't have a single festive card/present/wrapping paper in the house.. Oh, hang on, I've got some fabric. Oh, that's all right then :) Christmas crafting, here I come!!

  7. Thanks for visiting my blog and I do hope you have a go with the masking technique - let me know how you get on even if you dont manage to do it before next Tuesday (I will set a new challenge then), shame about the awful weather you are having- we are still ok here in the midlands although its dropped colder today - can you just stay in and craft though if its bad (if so that sounds good to me!)? Dont worry about not visiting everyone I dont think many of us do - I usually only manage about 70 on a good week although I do try and comment on everyone who comments on me. Oh also I keep all my Christmas stuff in one box too - nice and easy to take to crops then but I am sure it wasnt me that mentioned it before! Have a great week :)

  8. I have not even really thought about Christmas - no list even. However the majority of my Christmas stash is together in two boxes ready to be excavated. What we can see of your stash looks really pretty.

  9. You sound as though you're getting Christmas all sewn up, I'm sure everything will get finished in time. I haven't started anything for Christmas yet, I like to make all my cards the same and I haven't come up with a design yet!
    Thanks for visiting!

  10. Yay....love your desk today! I had to get a closer look so I clicked on your picture! Wow...your papers are lovely and I especially like the stamp (as least I think it's a stamp) of the children looking out the window. I think you may want to check out Di's blog you may have seen the tip there...not too sure though. http://pixiescraftyworkshop.blogspot.com/

Thanks for the visit today and happy Christmas crafting!!!!

  12. Ooooh some lovely looking Christmassy stuff there, those stamps look very appealing. You sound very organised I keep thinking about it but that is as far as it gets although I must say I have started to buy some presents. I try to keep all my Christmas crafting things together they are in two boxes and a couple of drawers and it's nice when you open them up now and then because you always find something you forgot about! Good luck with completing your lists x

  18. Hey Elizabeth, you musn't stress about getting around every WOYWWer, everyone accepts that it's not possible all the time..if I comment on everyone it takes me till Tues night...mind you, I always have too much to say! Great idea about the Christmas stash...in the past I've done it with specific company products when making samples etc,so don't why it hadn't occurred to me to separate christmas. Will be doing so!

  19. I don't ever get round to every ones desks, so please don't beat yourself up about it! thanks for visiting my desk over in South Africa. I too keep my Christmas stash separately so it is easy to access. I have done this for a few years now. I also catagorise my stamps, keep my paper with the relevant stickers and embellies accordingly(in colour co-ordinated groups in boxes) . It just makes scrapping and card making easier and faster cos you don't have to try remember what you got, you just grab the relevant container. 80 days and counting...

  21. I think I feel the same about visiting all the WOYWW-ers every week. Now I try to visit a few every day and it feels much better. I can take a little bit more time for each of you.
I love the XMas stuff on your desk especially the CI-stamp. I look forward to see what you are gonna create with it. Thanks for visiting my place and have a nice week.

  23. Great idea with the Christmas Stash, but if I put all of my stuff on my desk I'd have no room left to actually work on it!! And I still buy more Christmas stuff!! As no doubt, will you at the SECC!! Have a wonderful rest of the week.

  24. Hello - ohhhhh you live by the sea - we sometimes visit Ayr when we stay with my in laws who live in New Cumnock. I like the anticipation of your desk and you are not alone I am gently wibbling about Christmas......

  25. I can feel smug about my Xmas cards this year. I have a box full from last year due to a cancelled Xmas fayre although I've found some gorgeous new things this year so I'm sure I'll end up making some more.
Your new set of drawers look really organised. It's great to spot new storage ideas isn't it. I liked the over the door shoe hangar in this months Craft Stamper and have added that to my craft room this week.
    Hugs Lisax

  27. Hi there Elizabeth ah so glad to see you are well on the way to being organised and have never managed more than about 50 or so on a good week, only so many hours in a day sadly and some days it seems to be short changed on them thanks for popping over! Shaz in Oz.x

  28. I guess it is time to get out the xmas stash. Last year I put all mine in a plastic bin ... but not because I am neat and organized .... I did it because by the time I finished the last card, I didn't want to set eyes on any of it til next year, lol!
    Thanks for the reminder!
