Monday Card Class - Two Easel Styled Cards

Afternoon Folks,

We've had hailstones today! Apparently there has been a small snowfall up in the Highlands too. That Indian summer everyone was raving about on TV... missed us completely. No wonder I headed for the workspace ... I'll leave the rainstorms to those hardier than me!!!


This is the first card we made at class this week - a twisted easel. The base, topper, stopper, punched edge strip are in cream pearlescent cardstock. All the rest of the materials are from Stampin' Up.


Close up of topper - the flower centres are picked out with little colour-co-ordinated gems.


The stopper is stamped with a really fab stamp from SU called Curvy Verses.


The second card really tested my skills in cutting with a craft knife - that cut out square in the middle was the very devil to get right.


I forget what you call this style of card but it works by pulling the tab at the back so that the front stands up. As it folds flat it is fine for posting.


You can get a better view of the mechanism from this back shot. The base of this card is made from white cardstock, decorated with a SU paper. The flower is punched from co-ordinating DPs and the greeting is stamped onto pearlescent card.



Further to yesterday's post, I've now got all my Christmas stash together and sorted. After seeing Di's neat veg trolley storage yesterday, I had decided that something similar would be ideal, mentioned it to the  EM who went off in search of one for me.  He didn't find a veg trolley but but did come home with this great drawer set, on wheels, a reduced bargain in Wilkinsons, which makes the perfect storage for all that Christmas stash. The drawers are catagorised into (1) Stamps, (2) Paper & Card and (3) Embellishments & Die-cuts. There's a fourth drawer, the top one, which now houses most of my growing punch collection - I had in mind a different form of storage for them too, but the new drawer set provided the ideal answer. As it is on wheels the storage can be pulled out when I'm using it and wheeled away and tucked out of sight when not - perfect :)

Right, I'm off for a cuppa and to watch Pointless - my afternoon addiction :) I'll be back later to actually do some crafting - there's all those Christmas projects to get on with.

    Ooops, you see I read this post first before the WOYWW and knew I'd seen your new drawers!! Hope you don't think I've gone completely mad.
    Anyway, I love your first card, it's so elegant and the twisted easel looks great. I shall definitely be borrowing this idea.
    We have had hail and torrential rain all day too and it's been so cold. I'd love the Indian Summer back please!!

    Two wonderful easel cards .. .. but the first one is my favourite. It is wonderful!

    Neat storage idea too. I have one of those "under" my desk .. .. but had to take the wheels off to fit it in LOL!!!

    Two great cards Elizabeth.

    I loce the first one in particualr but so pelased to see the second as I bought a pack of tose cards at the NEC last year and have yet to find how to put them together properly, so am off for a closer look.

    Hi there Elizabeth - love the way you have half embossed the scallop circle on the first easel card will see if I can remember that idea (no great hopes there, sadly, need my ideas book quick where have I put it?) - I love them so pretty Shaz in oz.x

    Hi Elizabeth , those two cards look awfully tricky , tricky but beautiful ! it seems that whatever you put your mind to you can master ! Love the embossing on the first one just perfect.

    WELL DONE to hubby for helping out in the storage dept if `i sent mine out to do it don't know what he would come back with !
