A Simple Card of Many Layers

Good Afternoon to you All,

I was raking around in my box of test pieces - you know the sort of thing ... you get a new embossing folder, or die, or glitter pot, or ink pad ... and you just have to have to give it a trial run on some off-cut of card, you admire the results, and then toss it in a box to be forgotten - well, I was raking in that box, looking for inspiration for this week's Christmas Card (Week 35) and found a couple of scraps that were the germ of this card.

All I did to make this card was layer up the tidied up scraps of embossed card, add the ribbon, popped the die-cut flower on top, topped that off with the Christmas tree die-cut and finally dress the tree with amber coloured flat-backed gems.  Even the base cardstock was leftover from a previous make.

The computer generated insert was printed off onto a scrap, not even a full A4 sheet, of cheap inexpensive copy paper and the wee verse was copied from a card someone sent me last Christmas :) It must have cost pennies to make altogether :)

Materials Used: Stampin' Up Sahara Sand cardstock for 5"x5" base; Off-cut of white Swiss dot embossed card & a red card (from stash) embossed with docrafts Hanoverian folder; White flower-shaped die-cut shape; Crafty Bitz Christmas tree toppers; gold printed red ribbon; amber coloured gems; insert computer generated and printed on white copy paper, using Joanna Sheen's Nostalgia CD2

I'll be submitting this card to Hazel's Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas Challenge, #35 -Layer it On

And, because I've used up yet more snippets, to Always With a Heart's Jules Crafty Snippet Challenge #34

Right, time to think about dinner.

Happy Crafting,
