Mid project my desk looks, if not messy at best, busy. I'd just finished the yellow card you can just see on the right and decided to start another. Finally, I'm making one with the sweet little poppet who is 'busy doing nothing'. Still not decided exactly what paper(s) to use but I've got out a pad of pink papers and there's a piece of pink embossed card which may end up on the finished card - or maybe not if I change my mind : )
Surrounding this is all the detritus I gather round me when I'm too busy to clear up after me: a DVD case, my storage for the stamp set; several ink pads, including the gorgeous Spun Sugar DI from TH; a wee tray containing TH alcohol inks way to the left; and way to the right you can see a cute wee Tilda awaiting inspiration; lace die-cut trims; rock a block; glue, etc. Oh, and yes, the most vital item - my tea mug, sadly empty but not for long!
Last week I had a bottle of acetone out and I've been asked what it was being used for so here's the explanation. Claritystamps are clear but as they are hand cut this 'clarity' makes it difficult to see the outline of the stamp. Hence, they are given a cover of blue ink, this is referred to as indexing, to enable perfect cutting round the stamp. The stamps arrive still with the indexing on them but it has to be removed or it will come off on your ink pads, and you don't want that, it makes a real mess, especially if using VersaMark. The acetone is the simplest way to remove it. So there you are - acetone is now an essential item in my crafting arsenal :)
New to this blog, new to the WOYWW phenomenon? Reporting to Julia is a weekly event here in crafty blogland so if you haven't done so before but would like to join in click here and go for a worldwide snoop around some very crafty workdesks! It's so addictive but so educational and entertaining - I have learned an amazing amount from the most amazing bunch of crafty people you could wish to meet and made some terrific bloggy friends along the way.
Now I'm off to fill that tea mug and will be back later to hop around your workspaces and see what you are all up to today.
Happy crafting,
"Detritus"..what a delicious word!!...now you had me hunting for my dictionary what an accumulation of matter or debris..yep! my crafting to a tee, Elisabeth, I dont put away as I go enough either!!..I have seen it before and kinda knew what it meant but never used it so one always like makes sure one has the right idea.....
ReplyDeleteAND!! I am so glad you explained the acetone thing..now I know what to clean my blue off my one and and only clarity stamp from Joanna Sheen, better get my nail polish remover out!!

love Shaz in oz.x
I love to see the work desks on wednesday, will have to remember to take a pic of mine next time. Its so interesting to see what everyone has left out.. mine was a total tip this morning... a very late night and fell into bed at 1am... bushed. I found my Blue came off the Clarity with my Baby-wipes, but as I am buying some more this weekend thats an extra good tip to know.

Love your lile Tilda sat on the easel watching proceedings.!
ReplyDeleteHaven't done WOYWW so far today as ES has my camera, but thought I could at least catch up on some of the desks in my RSS feed blogs.
Have a good day.

Not much detritus there Elizabeth, and now wonder I prefer the wooden stamps!! Those others sound like too much hard work, lol!

ReplyDeleteHappy wednesday hugs judex9
Looks like you've really got the Sheena bug at the minute, Elizabeth. That image is just so beautiful isn't it.
ReplyDeleteAn empty cup, what a crime!!!
I hope all your snow has gone now.

Thank you so much for your "aahhhh", Elizabeth. I love that stamp from Sheena Douglas, but at the moment, I need to use what I have and save a few pennies. The other use for acetone (but it has to be a particular brand) is to transfer photos printed on an inkjet printer to your card, as demonstrated by Barbara Gray.
ReplyDeleteYour card looks like it will be a winner and your desk doesn't look bad for someone who is busy crafting!! I am always amazed when I see a cup of coffee or tea on a work desk... it is my #1 rule - no drinks on the desk in case they get knocked over....
ReplyDeleteLovely pink little girl image - is that the index on the left? (Sheena?) And there's a little "blue" girl up behind, still on the left - is she waiting to be used?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the Clarity stamps - never knew that. See what we pick up on WOYWW. have a great weekend. #15
Very creative desk. Very nice image of the pink girl! Thanks for sharing! Vickie #52

Really it's tidy...detritus...hmm, how come you don't amass the same amount as I do in a session? Pretty cards Elizabeth, she is a sweet little image...I imagine it's ended up on pink then?!
ReplyDeleteDear Bonnie,
ReplyDeletePlease thank Elizabeth for stopping by and commenting on my photo on Trece's blog. May I ask why I do not see you on her desk? We blong there, after all. . .
your chum,
Little Bit
I have only ever known my boss to use the word "detritus"!! He is clerk to the local Community Council and uses it when local farmers have left the roads dirty!! Nice desk with lots to see!
ReplyDelete"Surrounding this is all the detritus", Perfectly described in every way. I love your latest little card, reminds me of simpler times. You know? When Holly Hobby was around.
ReplyDeleteSorry I am getting around so late !
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous image on your desk.
Happy Crafting

Looking good there. I saw a cup of something and it looks like maybe a Magnolia having a good watch on your progress? Happy WOYWW on Sunday. Many to view this week and fit it all in.
ReplyDeleteThank you for peeping at my blog. That I still is crafting even though I'm about to move - without my craft, I would probably be totally crazy :) Tim Holtz doing so good and useful things for scrapbooking. Thanks for the look of your desk! #175 at WOYWW 93.
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth, I'm even later than you. Desperately trying to catch up after aweek away and leaving Monkey in charge of my desk. Love the colours that you went with finally with the little girl card on a later post. Hugs Mrs A. #57
