Saturday Trip to Largs + Knickerbocker Glory Scrapbook Layout

Good afternoon everyone,

The weather was overcast and drizzly this morning so we had a change of plan. Instead of going south to Portpatrick we went north to Largs - one of our favourite places for a day trip. But, as you can see, it was overcast and dull there too - this is what the pretty little island off Largs, Great Cumbrae, looked like this afternoon, shrouded in mist.

We never go to Largs without visiting Nardini's, Scotland's most famous cafe, restaurant and ice cream parlour with a definite Italian flavour. The building is in the fabulous art deco style and after a recent refurbishment it has been restored to its former glory - we just love it. Today it was really busy and there was a pianist entertaining us with lounge music - lovely.

Today, because it was cold, we warmed up with a bowl of minestrone followed by a latte and, my guilty pleasure, a yummy cupcake. I know I really shouldn't but they were there, I was there and my willpower was not there : )

I forgot to take a photograph until three-quarters of the cake had disappeared!!

Here is the scrapbook page I made after a visit to Nardini's last summer when it was hot enough to order a Knickerbocker glory for my EM and a raspberry snowball sundae for me - I can't tell you how delicious this was, but it is just as well that it is a rare treat : )

Materials used:
The backing is burgundy cardstock layered with a cream die cut cardstock, the edges inked with raspberry pink ink (Pretty Color). The papers used are from the Pebbles Skipping Along Collection - The Pathway - and Basic Grey's Pattern Paper, Sultry. They were cut using Kiwi Lane's templates and edged with the pink ink. For the title I punched a circle in dark pink cardstock and edged it with brown circles - time consuming but worth it! The other embellishments are cut out from the restaurant menu and buttons that picked out the colours in the papers.

Oddly enough we are enjoying a late sun now - isn't that just like the thing. I hope you all had a lovely day today wherever you are. I'm going to be pottering in here for an hour before going downstairs for the evening - tonight is movie night at the Worthingtons:)

Happy crafting,
