Hello Deskers, Followers and All,
I won't bore you with the usual, 'oh my goodness where has the week gone', intro and just get straight into sharing What's on my Desk today with you and our notable Head Desker Julia at the
Stamping Ground.
If you think this is looking very black and white, it is. It's all to do with the challenge I'm participating in on Mind The Scrap's Facebook group. We've just been given the requirements for this, the second week, and it involves a lot of black and white. So, as you can see, I've gone through all my paper and cardstock - well, almost all - and pulled out anything that fits the bill. There's also several rolls of Washi tape and a strip of stickers that might also come in handy. The piles of photos are there because they fulfil another requirement. On top of the, now essential, really useful box of goodies is the last layout completed for last week's challenge. Here's a close-up:
The photo is very old - c.1980s - and shows my lovely step-brother, Sandy, with his Judo group. In his heyday he did incredibly well and even defeated the great Jean Paul Van Damme in one never-to-be-forgotten bout. The page really isn't as squint as it looks in the photo - I've yet to work out how to get a page exactly square on for the photos!!!
Being challenged has increased my weekly scrapping output enormously - normally I'd maybe manage one, possibly two if I drove myself! Here's another that takes the count up the six. My personal best!
Two more very old photos, 1996 this time, of my grandchildren with their colouring books - hence the crayons. Don't ask me what the toucans and butterflies are there for - I just liked them.
I'm still listening to the book I reviewed last week - ploughing through it would be a more appropriate description of how I feel about it. I should really give up and move on - life's too short!

I’m really loving your LOs Ellie. It’s so lovely looking back at old photos. I must agree with you with your latest book....move on to one you enjoy. Life really is too short.

ReplyDeleteHow fantastic that the challenge has spurred you on! I must admit, I work quicker and better if I have something to make things for. The LOs are great and I loved the old photos on them - and why not have toucans on a LO? They're just fun!! And I used a load of those male sports/hobbies toppers that you sent me on cards for the WI and they all sold, so thank you again!!

Fun post, glad to see the challenges get you motivated. Maybe I should go back to doing some. I use to post almost daily on new items. Now I can hardly keep up with WOYWW..I don't know why other than age, must slow you down daily. HAPPY weed to you

We try to use stash that we have had for longer than 6 months or a year. We have lots of other challenges too, and a forum where we sit goals and chat. :)

I am really impressed with your layouts. It seems you are actually getting a lot done through these challenges. Most impressive. I look forward to seeing the black and white, one of my favorite color combinations. Happy WOYWW from # 1.

ReplyDeleteI never thought a challenge would sit well with me, but I did do the ‘one everyday in June’ sketch challenge at Inspired by Memories and because I made a couple of extras (as in, not really what I was aiming for the first time), i filed 37 LOs in June. Now that’s never going to happen again! But yeah, I suddenly find the odd challenge is really great and uses up stash that you wouldn’t think of too! Love your LOs, and that you talk of the phots as old and really old. They match the years that I work on quite regularly! 6 layouts a week is 24 a month, now that’s a lot if you do that for a year!!

ReplyDeleteLove that you feel your photo is a bit off skew - I cannot get things to be totally square when I take photographs. I usually leave a bit of border around them to make up for it.
