WOYWW - Week 140 - What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday?

Morning WOYWWers and All,

In what is probably a vain attempt to post early, I am sitting here preparing to reveal the state of my desk close to midnight Tuesday. Why, because another week has sped by and Wednesday is about to happen again - that is, time to report to the estimable Julia, keeper of desks, or whatever surface is your preferred crafting area ... for more details hop through to the Stamping Ground (just click on the WOYWW icon on my sidebar to be transported to the what is probably biggest bloghop in the world).

This week I am working on a layout - the flowers aren't stuck on yet because I haven't decided whether I'm going to use all or any of them ... they may just go back into that biscuit box again - before you ask, the biscuits have long gone :) The papers are a selection from K & Co - gorgeous papers. So gorgeous in fact that I had to force myself to use them ... but this is my year of being brave ... I won't just stroke my lovely sheets of paper ... I will use them ... especially if I have more than one sheet tucked away :)

And to shock those of you who think I can craft without making a mess here's my 'shove to the left' guilty secret. My poor guillotine is hidden under the button box, a bag of buttons and and a dish containing trims I pulled out looking to use on this layout. And round the perimeter, all the stuff I find necessary, kitchen towels, wet wipes, paint brushes, rolls of DS tape, a roll of red velvet paper - couldn't think where else to put it - and sundry other jars and packets of embellishments, ink pads, etc., etc.

It's been quite a week for my family and it's not over yet. My baby great-niece, Arihanna, has been ill for some time with an infection and so she has been in and out of hospital a lot in the last few weeks. She is now home again, on antibiotics, but it has been discovered that there is something wrong with her kidneys. Once the infection has cleared up she is to go back into hospital to undergo an operation which hopefully will sort out the kidney problem. She's only six weeks old, the wee soul.

As if that isn't enough my oldest grandson, William, is going into hospital for some keyhole surgery today - all being well he will be out soon but I won't stop worrying until he is home and on the mend. So if I'm not around much tomorrow, I'll try to catch up over the rest of the week ... though I usually do take the better part of the week to visit desks anyway, and I can't pretend I visit everyone. With the growing numbers, I find it almost impossible so my apologies to those of you I've missed ... all I can do is just keep trying.

In the meantime, I hope you are all well, and those who are not, will soon be on the mend. And for those of you who have been enjoying, or not, the snow, I hope it all clears up for you soon and life can get back to normal. I hope you have a wonderful week.

Update: William has come through the operation just fine and is now home and watching Top Gear. Many thanks to all who sent him their good wishes this morning, it obviously worked :)

Happy Crafting,

As to using the papers..I understand, but just think, you're only enhancing them by adding your touches..they will be even lovelier at the finihs. Me and flowers - lay em on...walk round them for a day...take em off. Goodluck!

  39. Hi Elizabeth,

Oh, I hope the little one does better. Bless her heart. Also William.

I know what you mean about using your favorite sheets! I'm the same way. I also feel that way with a brand new tablet of paper. There is something magical, looking at an empty slate, wondering about all the possibilities!

The flowers are wonderful, by the way. I hope you use them!!!

    Hugs,

Your layout is beautiful - hope to see the finished version soon. I have to admit I'm a K & Company addict and have a hard time giving them up. I've even bought extra pads on sale thinking I'll keep one for myself and use the other - naughty me!

  63. Hi Elizabeth

Thank you for visiting my blog and for your kind comments. I had a good look around your desk and discovered you have the same purple cows guillotine as me. I take the trimmer part off because its way too heavy for me - I struggle with just that bit without having to lump all of it about.

I laughed when you mentioned the increasing numbers of people taking part in WOYWW. I first joined 2 years ago now and there were in the region of 30. It then increased to about 60 and slowly upwards to about 130 odd. Now it completely flabbergasts me as to the number that take part. I've not done it for months and months due to my health and having other distractions, but I enjoyed coming back this week and it made me realise how much I had missed it and the people who take part. I hope to take part as much as possible - it's only my 'body' that lets me down!!!

Glad your grandson came good and hope that your great-niece does too when she goes back again for her op.

Take care hope to be back soon
