Friday Smiles

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are having a good day wherever you are. Here, weatherwise, we've had a very mixed bag so far. It rained this morning, it's very breezy, and now the sun is streaming through the window, much to Silver's delight. Nothing pleases her more than a snooze in the warmth of the sun.

And any bed will do as long as there's a stream of sunlight to bask in.

I've taken very few photos this week. Most have been scrapbook related but I though you'd like to see two notebooks that I'm enjoying using at the moment.

The 'One Line A Day' book is intended to encourage me to keep a journal longer than just a few days ... up to now I've been a bad diary keeper! So far so good with this little book. Writing just one line is not so difficult.

The grey covered one on the left is my most recent book of recipes - there's two others on a handy shelf  in the kitchen. I've been experimenting with new soup recipes and reviving some long forgotten, but favourite, dishes.  I haven't made this cheese and onion pie for more than twenty years!

The recipe is one I got from my old friend, Jean, who was a very good professional cook. She was a school cook when I met her but she trained as a baker and specialised in the confectionary side of baking. Her cake decorating was a work of art..

It's a brief smiley post today but that's because I've taken very few photos this week, and those I have are mainly of the kitten. Proof, if proof were needed, that I don't get out much. I could bore for Scotland on the subject of the kitten but I'll spare you that - I can almost hear your combined sighs of relief!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone - full of lots to smile about.

Take care too.

  1. You’d never bore me with photos and tales of your gorgeous little puss so keep them coming. A line a day book sounds a great idea....a line is possibly all I have time for at the mo. Love the look of the pie but I have a feeling it would be too many onions for me.
    Hugs,
    Annie x

  2. We are all fairly animal minded over at Annie's Smiles so we are happy to read about your kitty. It is nice to see yougot some sunshine this week.
Good luck with the diary. At least one line a day sounds doable.
I am having another go at a photographic diary again this year. It it a few years since I did the last one. I am sure dogs and cats will feature quite highly in it!
It is good to go back to some of the older recipes. They are often worth abother visit.
    Happy baking. Kate x

  3. Hi Annie, sorry I'm late writing this. We walked the dogs then I did some work need in the pond, forgot what time it was in the cabin (that was supposed to take two minutes!) and before you know it the day is half over though I do have some nice finished Resin pieces. So here I am. Animals are very sensible they know all the best places, Maisie and Stan are just the same though Maisie can't manage to jump onto the bed these days. The Cheese and Onion pie sounds lovely. Have good weekend. Hugs, Angela xXx

  4. Hello Elizabeth, I would never be bored with stories and photos of Silver, who looks so beautiful lying on the bed. She wouldn't like our weather today, snow and bitter cold, Teallach just doesn't want to go outside.
I have to say the cheese and onion pie also brought a smile, that looks a hearty plateful with the beans. I remember having this sort of pie at school dinners and love it. take care, Kate x

  5. Morning Elizabeth. Like most cat fans, I doubt if you could bore me. Love the look of your Cheese and Onion pie. Maybe bring me the recipe when we next meet. A wet weekend is forecast, so between my craft room and knitting I get through it ok. I’ve been walking every day, but not going to venture out today. Hugs Rita xxx

  6. I write sporadically, but am not good in journals for some reason. A friend gave me a sentence a day and it's still pristine!
Your pie looks good, I've been using really old recipes again too for some reason... harkening back to better times maybe. And boredom. I like your blog too, so maybe I can get notices by email... LeeAnna
ps Milo sends his friend request to your kitty... LOL
