What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday - Week 614

Hello Everyone,

Well, it's been a while, has it not? Four weeks since my last WOYWW post - in fact, since any post! These absences are never intended, they just happen. The reason this time, I've been busy sorting out this craftroom. It's been weeks of clearing out and decluttering and sorting through the piles of stash that have been threatening to overwhelm me for months. The job's not completely finished yet but there's boxes filled with donations to go to the local hospice shop and a bin full of all the stuff no longer wanted/needed. It's been cathartic and I'm feeling so much better for it too. And my workdesk is looking so much bigger - look at the space I have to work in now.

You'll notice that one of the most important changes is the stack of papers on the back right. I figured that as the most important ingredient in scrapbooking is 12x12 paper - it's where every page starts - then it really should be close to hand. In front of the stack are the supplies being used to make the page being worked on today. Same as on the left  - stickers and embellishments. The latte is essential too.

There's been more changes elsewhere in the room.

The ink pad shelving had to be relocated to make room for the fabric cabinet that has also been relocated.
And I now have the luxury of somewhere to store the collection of die-cutting machines I seemed to have amassed over the years.
Crafty Bear is needing a new home. Apologies to Annie, maker extraordinary of memory bears, can you believe the EM thought it was okay to hang her on the old clock hook?!?!

That's all I have to reveal today. There's more sorting still to do but I think I am beginning to see the end to this particular crafty tunnel ... it takes real time to sort through the best part of 25 years of hoarding this much stash!!!

And finally,
Thought this was appropriate today.
And this too.

And isn't this the truth!!!

Whatever you're doing and however you're planning have a wonderful WOYWW and a fabulously crafty week.

  1. That is a good job done! I adore sorting out and seeing what’s what - you’ll be able to see so much better what you’ve got, I hate wasting time searching for stuff. Sorry but I laughed to see the bear on the wall like that, I think EM has a wicked sense of humour! Hope you’re both keeping safe and well, we’re doing ok here in South Wales but I am hoping that I don’t have to wait too much longer before I get my jab appt.

  2. Well done you on your sorting and storing. I had to chuckle at the Memory bear....how dare he hang her up like that? πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ You are right it has been too long since we had a catch up...life just seems to get in the way of socialising lol

  3. I think we’ve all caught the sorting/decluttering bug during our various lockdowns. I have put lots of stuff on the local FB page and it goes within minutes. It always frees up space in my head when Sort put my stash of fabric/paper/ yarn etc and then I feel I can make nice things. Tell Alan he’s next fir the hook-poor Teddy. 🀣

  4. I wish I could get round to de-cluttering, there is certainly lots to be done... unlike everyone else it seems, I've not done any during lockdown - mainly cos I have worked throughout!! (my excuse!) have a good week and hope you find somewhere suitable for your bear..... Helen #3

  5. Well done for getting so much sorted Elizabeth, that's a great idea to keep those paper pads right in front of you, I hope the paper you need isn't the one at the very bottom. Love the fabric cabinet, now that I do need, most of mine sits in an old Mr Kiplings wooden orange box like a mini mountain. Keep up the good work your doing a better job than me. 6. Oh well done with all the sorting and tidying Elizabeth - the place looks great! You have a fab fabric stash and the paper is certainly better close at hand for working on new projects. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

  8. It feels SO good to get rid of things and make more space doesn't it?! Although it makes you realise how much you have too. I've started going through mine (far from finished) but goodness me it put me straight on a stash diet. Even if I scrapped every photo I have ever taken I wouldn't run out of supplies. Loving your layout there, especially now I've seen it finished on social media too. As always, stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #8

  9. Well done with your organising, Elizabeth. Your cabinets for inks and fabrics are great - the ink pads look so pretty arranged on the shelves. Every time I see someone organising their craft room I get another pang - my chaotic tip is going to have to be sorted before too long! Fun funnies at the end, too. Shaz would agree.

    Happy belated WOYWW,

  10. Hi Elizabeth, I'm late this week as I had to sort some stuff out yesterday ready for my mum coming home. I know that feeling, it's really hard though clearing stuff out but I do have friends who will take some of the stuff I know I wont use but you were quite right to concentrate on getting everything sorted. I had to smile at the funnies too, love them. Happy creative, belated WOYWW, Angela x19x

  11. Hi Elizabeth there always seems to be some sorting or tidying to be done in my craft room. Although I am getting on much better after my last organisation. As far as I am concerned there is always somewhere to hide crafty stuff! Trouble is I am apt to forget what I have hidden :). Have a great week Angela #21

  12. Sorry I am so late this week - birthday got in the way of blog comments.
It was good to see you have been so busy, makes me go red in the face as my clearing out has taken so long because I keep stopping (bad back is the excuse) and never starting again and so it goes on and on.
I love the new look of the various storage areas, the ink one especially looks good - would be a good advert in a magazine as it looks so pretty. And the idea of the papers so close to hand - good thinking!

  13. Sorry I’m late! my word Elizabeth, what a job! amazing isn’t it how you can go for years and then suddenly, it HAS TO BE DONE. Wow! I can’t help but be a bit green eyed. Think the idea of having the paper right there where you start is a great one, and I also have to confess that I laughed at your complaining about the bears location....it looks just fine to me, I would smile every time I looked up! Get you with the cutting station all Nat and laid out. And that cupboard...oh my, I don’t collect fabrics anymore and it made me swoon!
