Happy Wednesday - and it's snowing! It won't last and it isn't lying - well, not yet - but the soft white flakes fluttering down and melting on the craftroom window is lovely to watch. Which brings me back to why I'm here today. It's another What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday! Don't know what WOYWW is? It's my excuse to bare all, so to speak, by posting a pic of my desk - usually a sad mess - and talking about what I've been up to since last Wednesday, if anything at all. Feel free to join in over at the Stamping Ground - Julia would be happy to see you.
So what's on my desk is a pile of scraps. I've been sorting out my boxes of festive themed stuff before it's moved off the desk and put away again for a few months. When I've decided I've squeezed as many cards, so far the count is only two, from those scraps I'll toss what's left. We are, after all, well into the middle of February so time for Christmas to be gone ... well, at least for now. There's a cyber crop coming up at the end of the month and I need to be prepared.
Thought you might like to see the cushion I was working on last week. It's finished! There's a bit of quilting on the backing fabric - not a lot but enough to add interest.
Here I am stitching the binding with the help of my new little helpers. The book lights are a very thoughtful gift from my daughter - the perfect aid for her old mother whose eyesight isn't what it used to be.
Now, the book bit. Not an audiobook this week, instead it's a cookery book.
Rukmini Iyer's The Green Roasting Tin, is a beautifully illustrated book of dishes that look delicious, tempting and simple to make. I bought it for inspiration when we, actually he - I've always preferred vegetarian meals to anything with meat in it - decided to eat more veg based meals. This is a great book to be using regularly. The recipes are so easy to make - just throw everything in the roasting tin and pop it in the oven to bake. The result is a tasty hot dinner made with very little effort. I'd say this is a book that I'll be using a lot.
And finally ...
Take care everyone and have a great week ahead.
That's a lovely pic of you and what a great the lights are - you're not on your own, I have to have the daylight lamp on when I'm sewing in the evening! I do love seeing snow but am grateful that we don't have it at the moment, but the gales have been horrendous - they haven't been allowing people onto 'my' beach because the dunes have been so undermined and there's more on the way this weekend. G reckons the storms have been worse since they started naming them, lol!! He may well be right.

Hi Elizabeth, no snow here, we did have a few flurries yesterday, but they literally only lasted minutes. I too don't eat a lot of meat, I like it, but only in small portions. Love the funny!I do a LOT of reading. :) Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #1 X
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely job you did with the cushion Ellie...it's perfect. Love the lights too...I'm thinking I need better light when I'm hand sewing in the living room now too but not sure what to go for as yet.
ReplyDeleteI've made my next Memory bear [and this one is for a very special little girl to take to her new adoptive home...what lovely jobs I get eh?].
We've had a little snow but it didn't stay long thankfully.
Hugs,

Hi Elizabeth, sometimes you can get Christmas card tired and then it's better to stop for a while but the way the months are going it will soon be time to start again. The cushion looks lovely, great work. Wishing you a lovely happy and creative woyww, Angela x16x
ReplyDeletethose lights look very useful! I love your cushion (no wonder you needed the light!!) I'm just finishing off desk visiting then need to make another birthday card to get in the post! Helen #2
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth, I have some cross stitching to do, but I need a brighter light, so might have a look at something similar. You must have a lot of patience to make that cushion - it is beautiful. Thank you for stopping by my blog. I'm halfway through reading a candlemaking book, and will crack on with the candle making once I have finished the book. My mojo is returning slowly, so hopefully I'll be blogging more regularly. Have a lovely week, hugs Heather xx #33
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth, what a lovely picture of you and your beaming smile whilst you craft away. Now that's a happy crafter if ever I saw one and what a useful light. Loving your cushion I missed last weeks WOYWW is the centre like a sampler of different stitches? It makes a great display. I say each year i'm going to start my Christmas cards early but i'm not sure I could face it in February. Thanks for sharing WoywW Hugs Tracey #10 xx
ReplyDeleteHello Elizabeth, what a lovely photograph of you. That cushion looks wonderful, is it a one off or are you doing a set? I love to watch the falling snowflakes, not so much to be out in it, have a great week. Angela #27

What useful looking lights Elizabeth. That finished cushion is so cool. I must try one of these one pan cook books. I have heard such good things about them. Happy belated WOYWW. Sarah #8
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth, its fun to see you :) and I love the stitching on that pillow too. ~Stacy #29
ReplyDeleteThat really is a lovely picture of you - those lights look really useful! I love the stitching on the cushion as well. Happy WOYWW. With love & God Bless, Caro x (#18)
ReplyDeleteSorry I’m late. The book looks good, I like a one pot meal very much. I’ve started with Kelly’s Reindeer Club (only at the thinking stage so far), so will have to go up to the attic and set my Christmas box free again. Still the Club idea isn’t just about cards but focussing me on things I want to make for gifts...which I never get round to. We’ll see! Great pic of you E, those lights are brilliant, I can see a small rush on sales, brilliant gift from your lovely J.
