What's On Your Workdesk - Week 529

Morning All,

This post is coming from a very overcast but hot Ayr today. We're just waiting for the weather to break and, hopefully, cool things down a bit. In the meantime,  it's still, as ever, Wednesday and desk reveal time over at Julia's Stamping Ground so here's mine.
As messy as ever. I'm participating in Mind The Scrap's Summer Scrap Challenge on Facebook. We're only on warm-up week and this is the result already. It's going to look a lot worse by the fourth week, I'm sure. Anyways, I've managed to make two pages already - here they are.

Flying High
 Celebrate Good Times
I'm taking this opportunity to concentrate on scrapping photos of my son, Alun, through the years for an album I'm making for his upcoming fiftieth birthday. That's him flying high and celebrating the good times. The photos were taken a few years apart but he's hardly changed at all - that cheeky grin doesn't change.

I also found time to make a few cards - in advance! Miracle of miracles!!!
This was my UKPC swap card for this month. The background is one of the many Gelli plate prints I made earlier and which I'm now trying to use up in as many projects as possible. The stamps are from a new set - bragged about in an earlier WOYWW post - Woodware's 'Going to Seed'. They are stamped using Versamark and heat embossed with a rarely-used-but-I-can't-think-why WOW! powder, 'Burgundy Red Regular' from the Sheena range.  The little bows were made with a punch bought cheaply at The Range.
As there was some of the background print left, I made another. This one has a Kraft base but otherwise the supplies were much the same.

I'm skipping the book bit this week. It's too hot! So hot my sweaty fingers are starting to stick to the keys as I type - yuck!

Have a wonderful day, despite the heat, and have a great week ahead.

  2. Love those cards, what a super colour embossing powder. I have just spent a lovely day playing with some new embossing powders I have purchased, have to see what they look like.
    Enjoy your scrapbooking.

  4. You simply don't look old enough to have a 50 year old son, Elizabeth!! Have you been drinking from the Fountain of Eternal Youth or something?! The LOs are fab, I like them all - you're so clever.

  5. Hi Elizabeth, I keep meaning to start a scrap book album for each of my daughters, but haven't made a start yet! Maybe if I challenge myself to do one layout per month then I may get them finished before they turn 40 in 7 and 10 years! Your layouts look great - I will need some inspiration for when I start, so I'll look to you and Julia for that. Have a lovely week Heather xx #9

  7. My patching and darning is done and I've even shortened the sleeves on a jacket since that so I've a little more time for desk visiting now.
Your LOs are fab and those cards are really pretty Ellie.

  11. Hi Elizabeth. I would love to say good morning to you too but I can't as I've been out most of the day, Gym and then a good old chin wag with friends, coffee and scones too. Loving the photos of your son and the cards are gorgeous too. Wishing you a lovely creative week, Angela x13x

  12. Those gelli plate pulls make fabulous card backgrounds, what lovely makes. I've never been into scrapbooking but always admire peoples zest for creating them. I'd love to create a family album in this way.
Hope the heat is kind over the coming days, it's hotting up here :/

  13. Only a day late! Just waiting for Max and Ben to arrive so she can do some wet felting - if it's not too hot for it! I love your cards and the LOs are fab - great idea to collect them for a special birthday. xx Jo

  14. Why do we rarely have the weather "just perfect". It's either too hot or too cold or, in my case, too wet! We get an awful lot of rain in the north of England. Today promises to be mega hot so am prepared, curtains/blinds drawn, windows open, fan at the ready. Tempted to wear my cotton nightie all day.
Well those LO's are brilliant. I love the lettering for "Flying High" especially, and the cards are superb. I long to get my Gelli Plate out and have a play but think it would not be good at the moment. Ah well, something to aim for.
    Have a good week
    Hugs, Net 2 xx
