Hello Everyone
I hope you are having a lovely Friday and that you have had much to smile about this week. I was away last Friday and so unable to join in with
Annie's Friday Smiles but I'm here today and I have a lot of photos to share.
Firstly, these are photos from where we were last Friday. We spent the day with friends at
Gatehouse Of Fleet - a pretty wee town on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park in Dumfries and Galloway.
We visited an exhibition showing the work and travels of
Michael Wickenden, who died suddenly last year. He was a modern day plant hunter and explorer who travelled the world's remote places in search of new varieties of plants which he brought back to his specialist nursery, Cally Gardens. Sadly, the nursery was closed but here's a few of my favourite photos taken of the borders that surround the walled garden.
You can see from the last shot that the Joe Pye plant is massive. It's also a magnet for butterflies - I saw five on one plant and that's more than I've seen in our garden all summer!
As you may know, the children went back to school on 17th August this year. Here's my great-granddaughter, Rhian, looking very chuffed with herself. Her mother, Jennifer, tells me that Rhian now dresses herself in the mornings, giving mum time to dress her two younger siblings. However, as can be seen in this photo, she sometimes gets things wrong ... in this instance her kilt is on back to front! She gets 10 out of 10 for trying.
And finally a couple of recent snaps of great-grandson, Callum, that made me chuckle too.
No need to buy expensive toys for a two-year old, just give him and empty box and he'll be amused for hours.
You'd never guess from the mess on his face that he loves tomato ketchup!
Finally, just a few funnies that you might find amusing too.

Beautiful photos Ellie of lovely plants and flowers, a wonderful man in your life and younger family members making you smile every day....sounds very much like my life too 😀😀😀😀 we are blessed aren't we? Oh and as for a replacement little brown dog for Milky....she has one but a new one really doesn't come close to replacing the original of course....and she won't be fooled either if you throw the new one instead for her she just sniffs it in disgust 😂😂😂😂😂

Your funnies really made me smile. I can never resist new stash, but I am sure I never get to use some of it. And as you said, the last poem suits us all. Kate x
