Hi Everyone,
Happy New Year to all Deskers everywhere!
That's the festivities over and done with, the tree and decorations are packed away and we have a year of WOYWW desk-hopping ... courtesy of our Head Desker, Julia, the Stamping Ground ... to look forward too - fabulous!
Not that my desk looks much different from last week. Still working on my Christmas scrapbook album. However, there has been some progress which means the desk has got a lot messier, of course. Maybe next week I'll have moved on to something new.
I have been putting my new sewing machine through its paces, testing out all the lovely decorative stitches ... apparently it's wrong to call them embroidery stitches. The alphabet stitches are a great extra to have. I'm so pleased to be able to personalise projects with names, especially as there are so many unusually spelt names in the family. This little pincushion is for my daughter who was born in August, in Germany, so named for the month of July, i.e. Juli in German ... don't ask!!!
This is my new curling up on the sofa, with a lovely hot cuppa to hand, TV watching project. Over the last couple of years I've crocheted more than a few rugs, blankets and throws for family members but, to date, I've never made one for myself so this project is going to be just for me. It's a giant granny square throw in my favourite colours :)
Right, off to do a bit of desk-hopping before dinner.
Have a great week.
Loving the 'Juli' project and your crochet colours are gorgeous! Take care Zo xx 42
ReplyDeleteah yes time to make something for yourself! funny I just got back into crocheting after being away from it for many years. I have now made 4 baby blankets. (2 in granny square style) and one regular size granny square afghan. I am now doing slippers and hoping to get a pair made for everyone for next christmas !!!

I love the 'stitch sampler' little cushion -and a beautiful name too :) I used to crochet such a lot in my younger years, but now have forgotten how to - though I have tried to regain the knowledge, it has slipped by me forever, it seems.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Wednesday and the rest of the week,

Hi Elizabeth, your Christmas album is looking good. I see Santa paid you a visit. The pincushion looks pretty. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with that and you obviously are a busy lady - doing your crochet blanket when you sit down in the evening. Wishing you a very happy and healthy 2016. Barbxx #28
ReplyDeleteLove your butterflies on your header! Your scrapbook looks nicely done, too. I love scrapbooking! Great to have a project for when you are having a cup of tea and on the sofa. Crochet or knit? I crochet but haven't for awhile. Thank you for visiting earlier. #58
ReplyDeleteGlad you finally got around to making one for yourself
ReplyDeleteNow that is one fancy Sewing machine that sews letters for you. I'm sure she will love her pin cushion it's so pretty you can hang it on a christmas tree too :) hugs Nikki 15
ReplyDeleteI really should make a resolution to get on with my sewing machine. Maybe I will start when I get back from my holiday - who knows?
ReplyDeleteLove your makes.
Hugs, Neet 13 xx
Happy 2016 to you both.
You have a lovely variety of projects on the go, something to suit your mood whatever mood you are in! I love the pincushion, what a great use of the embroidery stitches (whyever not call them that LOL) on your new machine

I had planned to visit sooner, but not too long after I linked to Julia, my electricity went off. It came back on a short time ago, so now I'm trying to catch up with everyone.
ReplyDeleteI see you are also working on a December/Christmas scrapbook. It's looking lovely from what I could see.
I was really impressed with your new sewing machine. Mine sews forward and backward and the feed dogs don't even drop. But I can still sew with it, and am just happy to have it.
How awesome that you are finally creating a throw for yourself. I bet that is going to be a great throw when you are finished.
Happy WOYWW on Thursday from #1.
good on you to finally make one for yourself. Vicky#9
ReplyDeleteYour little pin cushion is lovely. When Annie had a new machine she made me a set of coasters with her practice rows trapped inside - so pretty! A happy, healthy and crafty New Year to you! x Jo
ReplyDeleteCrocheting! My favourite pastime! Love the colours you're using.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and yours.
Have a good week
