In A Vase On Monday - Halo Hollyhocks

Hello Everyone,

I've been sorting and clearing out around the garden this last week now that everything is going over. Cutting down the last of the hollyhocks was one of the more pressing jobs. Some grew to around ten feet tall so, despite there still being blossoms atop, I thought it best to cut them down before they are blown down during the squalls the winter will bring. However, I couldn't quite bring myself to toss them all into the compost bin so saved a few and place them in this set of four bottles.
I grew the hollyhocks, Alcea rosea 'Halo', from a packet of mixed colour seeds, wasn't at all sure what to expect, but was delighted with the pastel shades that did grow, especially this delicate pale lemon with a deeper yellow 'halo' centre.
