Afternoon Everyone,
Still not got back into actually doing anything crafty so I'm sharing yet another item made before Christmas which I didn't get round to posting in December.
This was made for my niece Louise using the fabulous fabric bought at the Hobbycraft Show in Glasgow in October. I thought the handbag print would appeal to her ... to an oldie like me it seemed young and trendy :)
The shape is simple - a tote with a divided pocket on the front trimmed with black bias binding and extra wide cream ric rac.
I added a layer of wadding (batting) between the fabric and the cream lining to make the bag sturdier. The straps were made from a webbing also bought at the show.
The instructions for the bag were taken from Half Yard Heaven by Debbie Shore.
Materials used:
Printed fabric
Cream cotton for lining
Wadding/Batting
Black bias binding
Wide cream ric rac
Webbing for straps
Matching sewing thread
Sewing machine
The finished bag measures approximately 16" x 14".
With some of the leftover fabric I made a matching mobile phone case ... much too large!
It was all guess work so I'll know to make the next one a lot smaller.
Another brief post from me. Hope you don't mind me sharing stuff I made last month but didn't have time to post until now.
Wishing you all well.
Happy Crafting,

ReplyDeleteI love the hand bag fabric on your bag! I used to have a refrigerator magnet in the shape of a refrigerator. I like that weird synchronicity or whatever you want to call it.
ReplyDeleteI am very jealous! I'm hoping to get to my sewing machine once again. I planned to last year but have found I can't manage more than one craft at the moment. Lovely tote bag I hope she will treasure it Karen xx
