Hi Everyone,
I trust this finds you well and that your day has gone well so far. It's cold here, and after such a lovely day yesterday too! Definitely not the kind of day to go out in unless you really have to which, unfortunately, we did. A trip to the health clinic for the flu jab we should have had done last month but didn't!
You may have seen in yesterday's WOYWW post that I declared I was on a mission to take the rest of the month and dedicate it to making Christmas stuff and I'd started with the cushion in the photograph of my desk. Well, here's the second, made from the fabric that can be seen in the same shot.
I picked up the fabric from the Patchwork Cottage stand when I was at the Hobbycraft show in Glasgow recently. The extra wide ric-rac was bought a year ago at the very same show - I knew it would come in handy one day :)
The back is in the plain green cotton and is, of course, envelope style because I find it the easiest to make and it's also easy to put on and pull off. One day I may advance to making them with zip closures but I'm not ready yet :)
Well, that's two down, a few more to go ... I think they will make nice Christmas presents. They are really very quick makes, that is, once I've decide what fabric to use and what design I'm going to make. I don't actually have a pattern ... there's a lot of inspiration to be found on Pinterest and I enjoy the challenge of thinking up each design. If you've ever thought about trying to make cushion covers but thought they were too difficult, do give it a try - I'm sure you will be delighted with how easy it is to make something which is both decorative and useful. Really, it's not unlike designing cards or layouts for a scrapbook page, just no glue to hold it all together, thread and a sewing machine instead :)
I hope you have a lovely evening whatever you are doing.
Happy Crafting,

ReplyDeleteGreetings from Veerle
Lovely cushions Elizabeth! I'm one of those who keeps saying I'm going to make cushion covers but never do. Do you ever buy materials for patchwork online? If so, where? I only ask because material holds me back from making things. I wear my clothes to death and the fabric is then useless!
