Friday Smiles

Evening Everyone,

Annie, over at A Stitch In Time, brings us a post on Friday's which cheers us up by sharing what's been making her smile and invites us to leave a link to do the same. And because it has been a good day here I'm happy to do just that.
First up is this super photo of my great-granddaughter, Rhian. It's her first day at nursery. And looking forward to the experience too ... doesn't she look so cute with her little satchel on her shoulders and that fabulous flower on her hairband. Her mummy tells me that when the time came she didn't want to come home!

Checking out the shrubs at the bottom of the garden I discovered this old bird's nest ... with it's plastic carrier back lining, it could be the only fully waterproof nest in the country!  Out little bird friends never cease to amaze :)
And here's their new home ... at least we hope so because my DH, thinking that they might like to move into something a tad more comfortable, spent the best part of yesterday making this cute 'des res'. And as I can see it from my craft room window I will be keeping a check over the next few weeks to see if there is any interest. Oh, and check out that blue sky ... did I say it was a beautiful day here? It's only temporary, the forecast is for yet more rain tomorrow, but it was nice while it lasted.

Well, that was my happy day and now I'm off over to Annie's to check out what has been making you all smile today.

    i love watching the birds, we have a house too which last year saw some blue tits use. I hope yours soon has some residents too. Thanks for the visit.

    I'm glad Rhian enjoyed her time at nursery. I used to be a nursery manager, in charge of eighty little Rhians! It was the most fun imaniginable, but I don't think I could do it now.
    I hope the little birds appreciate their new home. It will be lovely to watch their young hopping in and out.

    Hello Elizabeth, Your GG looks so sweet and you certainly don't look anywhere near old enough to have a GG as old as my GD.
    I hope the birds appreciate the free new home and move in for Spring. The sooner it arrives the better but like you, we've been having lots of sunshine lately.
    If you go to the glasgow show, look out for the fabric stall called "The Shuttle". He has lots of quality flat quarters, 6 for £5 and bargain yardage too. A nice man to boot!

    How wonderful your great grandie had a good experience on her first day. That will carry her far in years to come.

    Your birds are ingenious. We have those plastic bags fly all over our neighborhood. I hate it, but until shops and grocery stores stop handing them out, I can only hope we get some smart birds in our neighborhood, too.

    Good morning Elizabeth. It's so lovely when little ones settle well into a new routine ...however heart breaking it is for mummy that maybe she wasn't missed :-)
    You need a vacant sign on your little bird house so the birds know :-) it's fab.

    I find nests so fascinating - how do they do it with just one beak? I'd need at least four hands to make one!
